Under its Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth Pillar, UNDP helps its partners to build their capacity to integrate environmental considerations into development plans and strategies, establish effective partnerships, secure resources, implement programmes to support sustainable development pathways and build capacity to better manage the environment. Recognizing that addressing critical issues such as climate change and degradation of natural resources is a key element to reduce poverty and promote sustainable development, UNDP has been giving particular focus and attention to circular economy models and responsible production and consumption in different thematic areas and through a number of interventions including among others, catalyzing a transformative model for circularity thought 9R`s in Aqaba, Mitigating Climate Change through Solid Waste Management in Southern Jordan, Environmentally Sound Management of Mercury-Containing Wastes and Reduce the Use of Mercury-Containing Products in Jordan and Circular Solutions to Plastic Pollution.
UNDP is looking to hire a Projects` Coordination Manager to serve as the primary technical management and support lead for the implementation of Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth projects within the Solid Waste Management programme. The role will be carried out under the supervision of the Team Leader for the Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth pillar and in coordination with relevant national stakeholders.
Scope of Work
The Projects` Coordination Manager will carry out the respective tasks under the overall supervision of the Team Leader of Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth Pillar. Such works shall include close coordination with stakeholders and government personnel at the central and local levels, and is expected to perform the following duties:
Management and Implementation of the projects` activities
Day-to-day management through planning and implementing envisaged projects` activities, management of resources and monitoring progress against the intended outputs and initial quality criteria; Execution and supervision of the projects` components, including elaborating the necessary terms of reference, and supervising the service providers in charge of implementing the activities; Provide technical backstopping to ensure the Projects` activities are soundly implemented; Development of the projects` annual workplans and the correspondent budget; Provide technical assistance to project teams and advice; progress reporting and accountability for resources used In cooperation with relevant projects team ; Prepare projects’ progress reports of various types and the Final Projects Reports as scheduled and organizes review meetings and evaluation missions in coordination with UNDP; Assume the ultimate responsibility for all professional personnel (full-time Staff, Consultants and Contractors) engaged through projects funds directly, and for all other personnel indirectly (through the relevant Implementing Partners); this includes drafting of terms of reference, technical specifications, and other documents as necessary; and the identification and advice on the recruitment of projects` consultants, as well as coordination and quality control of consultants and suppliers; Assume direct responsibility for managing the projects` budgets by ensuring that: Projects` funds are made available when needed, and are disbursed properly, Expenditureses are in accordance with the projects’ documents and/or existing projects` workplans; Accounting records and supporting documents are properly kept; Required financial reports are prepared; Responding to comments and inquiries from the donor/lead applicant on financial matters. Financial operations are transparent and financial procedures/regulations for projects are properly applied; and Be ready to stand up to audits at any time. Perform any other duties as assigned.Support strategic partnerships and communication and support the implementation of resource mobilization
Coordination of projects` activities with other involved governmetal and non-governmetal organization; Working closely with CBOs, municipalities, and concerned partners; Coordination of projects` activities with other involved governmental and non-governmental organizations; Assist in establishing a trusting relationship with all concerned groups including relevant ministries and local NGOS; Work as a liaison officer with the local communities’ institutions; Ensure appropriate stakeholder participation in the projects` implementation through coordination with all concerned institutions; Upon request of the Team Leader of Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth, participate in the resource mobilization program and assist in drafting concept notes related to the pillar thematic areas.Supports knowledge building and knowledge sharing focusing on the achievement of the following results
Ensure visibility of the projects, including adherence to visibility standards and templates of the donor, UNDP and Government, as required; Facilitate a learning and adaptive approach to projects` management and implementation by supporting the development and dissemination of lessons learned; Ensure synergy and integration with all relevant projects/interventions implemented by UNDP specifically in relation to marine ecosystem conservation; Represent and participate in meetings of relevance to the mandate of the Sustainable Green Pathways & Inclusive Growth Portfolio; Contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice; Ensure active participation in learning and knowledge sharing in gender analysis and gender mainstreaming; Assists with writing of press releases and speeches related to events organized by the project, and ensures an adequate media coverage for such events and any other strategic issues/activities linked to project implementation.Institutional Arrangement
The Projects` Coordination Manager shall report to the Team Leader of Green Pathways and Inclusive Growth. He/She will oversee, monitor, and support the implementation of projects’ components within the SWM programme, primarily by means of full-time involvement in the projects` strategic and day-to-day management at the central and sites level.

Min. Education requirements:
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences field, environmental engineering, land and water management, water and environment management. Or
A first -level university degree (bachelor’s degree) in the above mentioned field, with additional 2 years of relevant experience will be given due consideration in lieu of The Advanced University Degree.
Min. years of relevant Work experience:
Minimum of five(5) years of experience (with a master’s degree) or seven (7) years (with bachelor’s degree) in managing the implementation of management, supervision or related projects in the fields of hazardous and solid waste management, municipal solid waste recycling and treatment, community mobilization,
Experience in implementation of large-scale projects in Jordan, where public sector-related construction projects is preferred. Knowledge of management and procurement systems in general is preferred. Outstanding experience in implementation and management of SWM projects in Jordan, with specific experience in management of landfills and transfer stations projects.Required skills:
Proven Knowledge of risk assessment concepts and the ability to apply them to strategic and/or practical situations. Sound knowledge and experience in project management of complex/large-scale projects is essential. Competency in the use of standard project management/planning tools such as MS Project Management /Primavera is essential.Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the competencies section:
Experience in working in refugee relief context. Finalize project management trainings such as PMP (Project Management Professional) and RMP (Risk Management Professional) are essential. Experience in the implementation of projects in Jordan, in particular, public/private sector projects is preferred. Competency in using Project Management software is essential. Knowledge and experience in waste management and circular economy concepts. Knowledge on waste management strategies and ongoing relevant plans and projects. Experience working with development agencies.Required Language(s):
Fluency in Arabic and English is required.
