Internships at UNEP:

INTERN - ENVIRONMENT AFFAIRS [Temporary], Nairobi

Deadline: Monday, 01 April 2019

The internship is for a minimum of three months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of six months. Interns work five days per week (35-40 hours).

You must meet one of the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher);
  • Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent);
  • Have graduated with a university degree and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one-year period of graduation.
  • Fully proficient computer skills, use of web-based platforms and relevant softwares e.g. Word Processing, PowerPoint, Excel, internal databases, Internet etc.
  • Preferred area of study:International relations, international environmental law, political sciences, sustainable development, communication, environmental science, technical issues (in particular chemistry or biological sciences) or related area.

Application must meet one of the following requirements:

  • be enrolled in a graduate school programme in journalism, communication, media studies, information technology, political science, international relations, analytics or related field (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); or
  • be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme in journalism, communication, media studies, information technology, political science, international relations, analytics or related field (minimum Bachelor’s level or equivalent); or
  • have graduated with a university degree in communication, media studies, journalism, information technology, political science, international relations, analytics or related field (as defined in (a) or (b) above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation.

Education required:

Education

Advanced university degree (Master's or equivalent) in information technology, engineering, environmental sciences, environmental management, law or a related field. A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying work experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Work Experience

A minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in knowledge management , information technology platforms as well as experience in project management or related area is required. Experience working in a multi-stakeholder, interdisciplinary context is desirable. Good understanding of sustainable development and familiarity with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development is desirable.
