Context:
Established in 1951, IOM is a related organization of the United Nations, and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration, IOM works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all.
Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Mobility and Social Inclusion (LMI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Governance, and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.
IOM’s DCR programme include in preparedness and prevention as well as in emergency response. For that IOM works alongside and contributes to strengthening the capacity of government partners and local and international counterpart including support to the national and local cluster system particularly the National Cluster on Displacement and Protection (Klasnas PP) including in supporting the Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) cluster where globally, IOM is one of the lead agencies.
Under direct supervision of the National Programme Officer, the Senior Project Associate will support national advocacy efforts, particularly within disaster management and emergency response. This role involves collaborating with government agencies, local NGOs, and other partners to promote effective disaster response strategies, enhance understanding of the cluster system, and strengthen partnerships within the sector.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
In close coordination with the National Programme Officer, assist in creating and implementing advocacy strategies for disaster and refugee management at both national and local levels.Facilitate multi-stakehodler collaboration and communication with government officials and relevant stakeholders in disaster and refugee management.Support coordination of emergency response initiatives in partnership with local NGOs and government bodies.Contribute to developing and sharing emergency response plans, guidelines, and protocols.Regularly coordinate with cluster members and enhance the capacity of local NGOs on disaster management practices.Build relationships with local NGOs and represent the organization in relevant meetings, workshops, and forums.Prepare reports, manage documentation, and support logistics for advocacy and training events.Perform other related duties and tasks as assignedRequired Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
A University Degree in social work, gender, development studies, international relations and/or other related field with at least four years of relevant experience; or,High School diploma with six years of relevant professional experience.Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. EXPERIENCE A minimum of 5 years of relevant working experience in disaster management, emergency response, or advocacy.Experience in the Indonesian humanitarian coordination systemExperience in community engagement, participatory methodologies and multi-stakeholder collaboration approaches;Proven experience working closely with local NGOs and government agencies.Experience in working with relevant non-governmental institutions, civil society organization or UN;Languages
IOM’s official languages are English, French, and Spanish.
