The overall objective of the UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is the strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 500 banks, insurers and investors. For over 32 years UNEP FI has been shaping and driving the international sustainable finance agenda, setting global standards and growing a global network of leading financial institutions. Through its work-streams and regional activities, peer learning, methodology development, training and research, UNEP FI promotes sustainable finance and helps the financial industry align with and contribute to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. UNEP FI’s Policy Team is responsible for coordinating UNEP FI’s engagement with regulatory authorities globally and fostering greater alignment between UNEP FI’s voluntary initiatives and the policy enabling environment. UNEP FI needs a consultant to assist with the facilitation of the UNEP FI Policy Team’s annual retreat. The policy team has grown in size substantially since its set-up in late 2022. The Policy Team is convening this in-person retreat to strengthen collaboration, alignment, and strategic planning of the policy team for 2025 and 2026 through in-person discussions, external inputs and relationship-building. Bringing the team together fosters deeper engagement, focus, and a shared sense of purpose, enhancing overall delivery of the team. Include one round of feedback and deliver final report The consultant will be under the overall supervision of the Head of UNEP FI and report directly to Global Policy Co-Lead of UNEP FI, working in close coordination with other relevant UNEP FI teams, as well as UNEP FI's project partners. Qualifications/special skillsEducation: A master’s degree in finance, environmental studies, international relations, business administration or related field. A First degree could be taken in lieu of advanced degree provided the selected candidate has seven (7) years of relevant experience. Professional Experience: At least five (5) years of work experience, in the area of business development, facilitation or strategy. Experience in the environment or finance sectors and in international organizations would be a strong advantage. LanguagesLanguages: English is the working language of UNEP FI. Additional InformationSkills & Knowledge: Proven knowledge in the fields of strategic planning, meeting design, meeting facilitation, team building, event documentation. An ability to cope and assist with multiple projects and activities in an organised and timely manner is important; proven conceptual, analytical and evaluative skills; excellent communication (spoken and written) skills are also required.
