Job Description
The Safety and Security Coordinator will report to the FHI 360 Cameroon Country Representative and is responsible for the overall management and implementation of the organization’s security policies at the country level in support of the EpiC and STRIDES projects. The incumbent will maintain close and regular coordination and interaction with the Regional Security Manager (RSM) of Francophone Africa, MENA, and Central Asia, who serves as the HQ’s technical backstop, ensuring alignment with global security risk management strategies and organizational safety and security priorities. They will assist in managing the organization’s safety and security strategy and policies to ensure high performance and implementation across existing and new programs and/or mid- to large projects in an assigned geographic area. Responsible for providing security coordination for members of the organization’s Senior Management Team Crisis Management Team (CMT) in response to incidents, emergencies, and crises on behalf of the organization. Will serve as the primary advisor to the Country Representative and STRIDES and EpiC Project Directors regarding security matters. Conduct training on site for employees and facilitate development and implementation of country security management plans.
The position will be based in FHI 360’s office in Yaoundé, Cameroon, with travel throughout the country.
Job Responsibilities:
Conduct threat and risk assessments of the environment and provide recommendations for specific security management requirements to senior management.
Produce, roll out and maintain updated security management planning policies for field employees, ensuring compliance with the organization’s global safety and security standards.
Establish and ensure all security management components including incident reporting and trend analysis inform program design, implementation, employees’ movement, and contingency responses.
Construct a communications infrastructure for the site and/or project.
Work both internally and externally to ensure the organization’s mission and work in the country is known and accepted.
Identify, establish, and manage appropriate context approaches to ensure facilities and assets are secure.
Stays abreast of social, cultural, legal, and criminal issues, nationally and internationally, and their impact on the organization and its business.
Compile and submit security reports that track incidents and trends within the country and submit daily security updates as needed.
Ensure that all incidents and accidents are followed up with a written incident report and reported to the RSM in a timely manner.
Assist the field offices in developing and overseeing the day-to-day conduct of office security program, ensuring adequate responses to security incidents both natural and man-made.
Provide technical security advice in consultation with senior management on the existing and any new potential offices including site selection and establishment of effective physical and procedural security measures.
Conduct security risk assessments for program expansion areas and update security risk assessments regularly for existing areas.
Manage physical security, fire safety, and office evacuation drills periodically.
Conduct hotel assessments in liaison with RSM and travel office for a safety and security approval process.
Establish a network with other key security players for information sharing and joint lobbying on security matters where possible.
