General Background of Project or Assignment, Operational Context:
UNHCR's Global Communications Service (GCS) works to lead the narrative on forced displacement, generate empathy for displaced and stateless people, and mobilize action on their behalf. In partnership with country operations and regional bureaux, it sets global communications priorities, develops messaging, handles media relations, produces multimedia content, engages web and social media audiences, works with Goodwill Ambassadors and high-profile supporters, and plans global activities such as World Refugee Day and the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award. It communicates with other UN bodies, civil society organizations, the news media, and public audiences. The Global Themes and Events Assistant reports to the Head of the Global Themes and Events as part of a small team responsible for catalyzing communications activities around global thematic issues and events.

Purpose and Scope of Assignment:
Concise and detailed description of activities, including measurable outputs and delivery dates, impact indicators (what qualitative and quantitative results would be achieved upon completion of individual contract), performance indicators (timelines, value of the service rendered in relation to the cost, timeliness) and work plan:
Content:
• Support the development and execution of the UNHCR Nansen Refugee Award, with a focus on project management, logistics, content creation, ceremony programme, social media engagement etc.
• Support the Head of the Global Themes and Events Unit coordinate Nansen multimedia content production for the global laureate and regional winners They update work plans and liaise with GCS teams, regional bureaux, and country offices.
• Manage updates of the Nansen website with content and text.
Logistics:
• Support the organisation of the headquarters Nansen event for UNHCR staff.
• Manage travel planning for content gatherers, Nansen winners, country focal points, speakers, and performers. Prepare passport and visa applications, invitation letters, hospitality kits.
• Develop a schedule for Regional Winners and their Focal Points in Geneva.
• Support with invitations, administer ticketing system, and track RSVPs, ensuring key stakeholders are invited and liaising with EO on VIP seating.
• Coordinate with security teams at UNHCR, UNOG, city/canton of Geneva.
• Prepare contracts for production companies, caterers, printers and other services, artists and performers, content producers, etc.
• Coordinate volunteers at the Nansen ceremony and other events, recruiting candidates, assigning roles, providing briefings, and directing their work.
• Support with management of files/information and platforms such as the Nansen Proxy mailbox, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, ensuring they are regularly updated.

• University degree in journalism, communications, international relations or a related field.
• Experience working with UN
• Minimum 2 years’ experience working in communication
• Fluent English. French an asset.
