Under the overall supervision of the Emergency Coordinator and the direct supervision of the National Outreach and Visibility Officer, the Digital Communication Assistant will support the strengthening of IOM Cameroon's digital communications capacity and the implementation of modern communication tools and strategies to enhance both internal and external communications.
Digital Content Management
Manage IOM Cameroon's digital presence across all platforms (website, social media, internal digital channels) Create and curate engaging multilingual (French/English) digital content Assist in the development and maintenance of a content calendar for all digital platforms Support digital analytics and prepare regular performance reports Ensure consistent branding across all digital platformsInternal Communications
Support the implementation and optimization of the mission’s digital communications and visibility strategy Maintain, organize and update Media and digital collaboration tools (SharePoint, Microsoft Teams), and also mission’s online platforms including the website Train staff on the effective use of digital communication platforms Maintain internal digital communication channels Support the development and distribution of internal newsletters and updates Assist in organizing virtual town halls and online meetings.External Communications
Manage social media accounts and ensure regular, engaging updates Support the creation of public information content – in particular, audio-visual and social media content – based on mission’s key activities and achievements Draft and edit press releases, web content, and social media posts in both French and English Create multimedia content (graphics, short videos, infographics) Support the development and implementation of digital communication campaigns Monitor and analyze digital media coverage and social media engagement.Others:
Create a community of promoters who will always promote our brand and mandate Benchmark our web page with other UN agencies and suggest modifications if necessary Verify SharePoint and webpage are friendly usage and propose adjustments. Provide technical support for virtual events and online meetings Maintain digital asset library (photos, videos, graphics) Support the implementation of new digital communication tools Troubleshoot basic technical issues related to digital communications Ensure proper archiving of digital content. Perform other duties as may be assigned. Education Bachelor’s degree in communications, Digital Media, Digital Marketing, Journalism, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Public Relations, or a related fields from an accredited academic institution, with three years of relevant experience; or High school diploma with five years of relevant experience. Professional certification in digital marketing or social media management is an advantage. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. Experience Proficient in design software such as Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Powtoon, or other relevant tools. Proficient in communication software such as Mailchimp and all-in-one social media management tools like Postoplan and Buffer. Proficient in the use of live media and video conferencing tools such as Facebook Live, Periscope, Zoom, and Teams. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, E-mail, Outlook), particularly SharePoint and Teams. Experience in community engagement, outreach, advocacy or awareness raising initiatives; Demonstrated experience managing social media accounts for organizations (Twitter or X, Facebook, Linkedin, TIktok, Whatsapp Channel). Experience in liaising with government, media and civil society partners is an advantage. Experience with content management systems and digital collaboration tools. Strong track record in creating engaging digital content. Familiar with the use of Artificial Intelligence (ChatGpt, Copilot, Perplexity). Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage. Experience in working in a multi‐cultural environment and respect for diversity. Skills Professional fluency in French and English (written and spoken). Excellent writing and editing skills in both French and English. Proficiency in social media management tools. Skilled in digital content creation, including graphic design and experience with design tools, photography, videography, and editing. Strong organizational skills and reliability in time management and schedule organization. Knowledge of video editing software is an advantagUnderstanding of SEO principles and best practices.
