Work LocationRemote Expected duration7 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is the leading global environmental authority that sets the global environmental agenda, promotes the coherent implementation of the environmental dimension of sustainable development within the United Nations system. UNEP’s mission is to provide leadership and encourage partnership in caring for the environment. We aim to achieve this mission by inspiring, informing, and enabling nations and peoples to improve their quality of life without compromising that of future generations. UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division supports partners across governments, private sector and civil society to develop and implement policies, strategies and practices for sustainable development. Located within the Industry and Economy Division, the Resources and Markets Branch enhances the capacity of partners to integrate environmental considerations into economic policies and practices. A particular focus of the Resources and Markets Branch is UNEP’s work related to Green Economy. The Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE) brings together expertise of five UN agencies (ILO, UNIDO, UNITAR, UNDP and UNEP) with support from eight funding partner countries to assist twenty-two countries in their sustainable development including Mongolia, Peru, Senegal, Burkina Faso, Mauritius, Ghana, South Africa, Brazil, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Barbados, Guyana, Uruguay, India, Indonesia, Guatemala, Argentina, Kazakhstan, Thailand, Morocco, Rwanda and Cambodia. In addition, PAGE offers a portfolio of global and regional activities, including global training programmes, South-South Collaboration, knowledge sharing, and outreach and communication. UNEP is providing secretariat services to this multi-year interagency programme. Specific tasks and responsibilities Related to Output 1: -Review available content from 2024 reporting under the programme. -Summarize and synthesize related content. -Update and improve monitoring tools and related visual presentation. -Compile related details and develop related contents in consultation with programme partners. Related to Output 2: -Develop programmatic documents that describe the forward going programme activities. -Coordinate with programme partners on planned activities. -Develop coherent presentation of plans, focus areas and related budgets. -Prepare visuals and presentations for easy access to the information. Related to Output 3: -Coordinate dates and logistical arrangements for PAGE governance meetings. -Prepare background documents for the Steering Committee, Management Board and/or Technical Team meetings, including agenda, participation lists, presentations, concept notes and briefing notes. -Prepare communication to invited participants and their roles in the meeting. -Prepare the final summaries for the meetings highlighting key points and decisions. Related to Output 4 -Initiate and organize thematic events for and with PAGE partners, which could include the below: -Webinars with PAGE national coordinators and PAGE focal points on emerging subjects of interest; -Thematic dialogues or outreach events with a wider group of partners, including contributions to side events at international forums. -Prepare or contribute to concept notes, logistics, engagement of speakers, and facilitation of events in coordination with PAGE partners. Related to Output 5: -Considering past and future programme activities prepare technical material providing overview and analysis of progress, identifying highlights, lessons, opportunities and challenges. -Coordinate with programme partners the content of the materials. -Develop visuals and presentation material providing easy access to the information. Related to Output 6: -Ensure that all programmatic and operational documents for PAGE have been completed. -Ensure that all governance and outreach activities have been completed. Qualifications/special skillsAdvanced university degree (Master’s) in international affairs or development, economics, environment or sustainability related studies, communications, or a related field. More than 4 years of work experience the field of sustainable development and programme management, including in organization of internal and external meetings and programme coordination with different partners, preferably in UN or international organization context Experience in the compilation and presentation of results, creating visual content, and development of monitoring frameworks is an advantage. LanguagesLanguages: Proven communication and writing skills in English. An additional UN language is considered an advantage.
