    ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT

    The candidate will report to the DRC Head of Communications. Duties include but not limited to, leading our communication for donors, tracking and oversight of all deliverables and oversight of digital content and social media. This role also focuses on building sub office and Country Office capacities in creative skills, storytelling, and providing intra-office skills and training.

    JOB PURPOSE:

    This position requires someone with a good understanding of developing content, writing case studies, the impact on communities and demonstrate success for our donors and external partners. He/She will provide visibility for our programmes on the ground. S/he will work closely with our technical, programme team and sub-offices to make sure we have in-depth WFP coverage of our programmes, communications for our beneficiaries and donors, and creative fact sheets.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

    • Lead the development and execution of digital content strategies, focusing on storytelling, influencer partnerships, and the creation of multimedia assets to engage diverse audiences and elevate WFP’s visibility across platforms.

    • Oversee the creation and implementation of digital campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational goals while expanding WFP’s reach through innovative and engaging digital formats and content.

    • Ensure branding consistency and high-quality visual identity across all communication materials, drawing on expertise in graphic design and multimedia production to maintain strong, cohesive brand standards across platforms.

    • Spearhead multimedia production, including video, motion graphics, and photo content, and actively explore new platforms and formats to enhance WFP’s digital presence and engagement.

    • Lead capacity-building initiatives within the communications team, providing staff training and fostering a culture of knowledge sharing. Ensure that tools, guidance, and expertise are accessible, empowering the team to implement effective communication strategies.

    • Foster collaboration across the UN communications system and partner organizations, ensuring cohesive and unified messaging on key issues such as food insecurity, nutrition, and other critical areas in humanitarian efforts.

      STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

      Experience:

      • Has 5 years of relevant postgraduate experience in communications, marketing and advocacy.

      • Has managed small teams of staff with related areas of expertise in the delivery of innovative communications projects

      • Has provided support in leading projects and input into function policies

      • Experience in working with the UN or related work environment is desirable

        Education:

        • Advanced University degree in Journalism, International Relations, Public Relations, Communications or other relevant field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or trainings/courses

          Language:

          • International Professional: Fluency (level C) in the English language. Intermediate knowledge (level B) of the French language

            • Demonstrates the ability to design creative content for external assets e.g., fact sheets and social media and video

            • Ability to monitor tonality and brand in the country and adapt strategy development to improve how we amplify our programme impact

            • Networks regularly with key external partners using formal and informal opportunities to understand donor needs and build and strengthen relationships

            • Have a clear understanding of and ability to advise management on when best to and how to tactfully engage other units in conversations on impact, timing, or planning to improve outputs for donor communications
