The UNV Regional Offices (RO) provide oversight and strategic guidance to the UNV Field Units in their respective geographical assignments and are mainly accountable for the placement of UN Volunteers mobilized for UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes focused on peace, development and humanitarian needs. Furthermore, the Regional Offices represent, and strategically position, UNV and bring UNV’s services and solutions closer to its partners from governments, UN entities, civil society and private sector.
The Communication and Multimedia Associate is expected to support regional communications work plan as per calendar and standard operating procedures, assisting content research and production in the regional context, development and maintenance of online presence, and supporting outreach efforts and campaigns in the Field Units assigned to the Regional Office.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Communication and Multimedia Associate is required to deliver the following:
Contribute to and collaborate on the development and implementation of communications and outreach strategies and workplans, in line with corporate guidelines and regional priorities; Produce original communications and multimedia content (text, photo, video, graphics, audio) to promote volunteering and position UNV among its diverse audiences; Manage and analyze social media channels,
lead management of social media accounts of UNV Arab States, using a data-driven approach to enhance visibility and engagement. create and post a diverse range of social media products, and moderate conversations and comments. keep track of and apply latest social media trends. generate reports based on monthly KPIs to optimize UNV’s regional social media plans. Contribute to the management of public events and outreach activities conducted by UNV Regional Office, including planning and implementation of visibility plans and media coverage. Support and guide UNV Field Units in the Arab States in the delivery of their country-level communications activities relevant to the above tasks. Perform any other related tasks or duties as may be required.

Required Skills and Experience Education:
Secondary education is required. A university degree in communications, journalism, or advertising will be given due consideration, but it is not a requirement.
Experience:
Minimum of 6 years (with high school diploma) or 3 years (with bachelor’s degree) of relevant experience at the national and/or international level in social media management, communications, public information, or any relevant field. Experience in the use of computers, office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.), database packages, and web-based management systems such as ERP. Strong knowledge of social media platforms and proven experience in social media outreach (campaigns and daily management); Excellent oral and written communication skills; Proficiency in design and video editing is required – proficiency in photography and/or videography is an asset; Excellent interpersonal skills; culturally and socially sensitive; ability to work inclusively and collaboratively with a range of partners, including grassroots community members, religious and youth organizations, and authorities at different levels; familiarity with tools and approaches of communications for development; Ability to work and adapt professionally and effectively in a challenging environment; ability to work effectively in a multicultural team of international and national personnel; Solid overall computer literacy, including proficiency in various MS Office applications (Excel, Word, etc.) and email/internet; and office technology equipment; Self-motivated, ability to work with minimum supervision; ability to work with tight deadlines; Have affinity with or interest in promoting volunteerism as a mechanism for durable development, and the UN System.
