Work LocationThe internship will normally be conducted in-person at the Palais des Nations in Geneva, but the modality can be handled flexibly on request of the successful candidate. Expected durationThe internship is full time and will ideally start in May for a 4 to 6 months duration. Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe internship (unpaid) is based in the Human Resources Management Service (HRMS), Division of Administration, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG) and envisaged for a period of 4 to 6 months with a start date as soon as possible. The internship offers an opportunity to participate in the day-to-day tasks related to the implementation of our strategic communications plan to strengthen HRMS' position as a service provider of choice within the UN Secretariat, and to contribute directly to the work of UNOG/HRMS. The intern will work under the supervision of a Human Resources Officer and Communication Officer. The daily responsibilities may include, but are not limited to: • Designing visual documents (i.e. videos, reports, flyers, digital signage). • Drafting content for informational material, such as PowerPoint presentations. • Supporting the maintenance and transformation of the UNOG/HRMS intranet website. • Researching global communications best-practices and creating a knowledge repository for such findings. • Assisting with the review of existing communications products and practices to strengthen internal communication channels. • Supporting in the organization of files and workflows through automation, by using tools such as Microsoft Power Automate. • Performing other tasks as necessary. Qualifications/special skillsApplicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor's level or equivalent). Preferred areas of study for this internship: Communications, Graphic design, Public Relations, Business Administration, Fine Arts or International Relations. • Experience working with graphic design software (e.g. Adobe Photoshop, Canva, etc.) and web content management systems (e.g. Drupal, Wordpress, Wix, etc.) is required. • Proficiency in using corporate digital communication tools and platforms, particularly Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Word and Teams) is required. • Experience with corporate automation tools, such as Microsoft Power Automate is desirable. In addition, interested candidates must have: • Strong written and verbal communication skills. • The ability to work independently and as part of a team. • Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
