Purpose of Job

The Analyst plays a key role in facilitating the technical authority of the Sustainable Infrastructure Group (SIG) infrastructure-banking teams, aiding in project preparation, its implementation and monitoring but also for providing strategic insights, business intelligence, and planning. The analyst position is a key role that supports the unit's mission by conducting high quality research, analysis, and reporting on various topics and issues. The analyst will work closely with the unit heads, technical and financial specialists, and other internal stakeholders to deliver high-quality products and services.

The Sustainable Infrastructure Policy & Project Preparation (SI3P) team is composed of technical, financial and procurement specialists covering three infrastructure sectors: energy, transport and municipal. It is tasked with enabling EBRD’s SIG to develop future-ready programmes and prepare high-quality projects for clients in line with the Bank’s transition mandate. This includes the Bank’s flagship Green Cities programme.

Accountabilities & Responsibilities

Under the guidance of the Head of PPI Unit, together with the Head of Green Cities and/or a more senior team member, the Analyst will:

  • Conduct research and analysis on various topics and issues related to the organisation's strategy, operations, and environment
  • Collect, organise, and synthesise data and information from various sources, including internal and external databases, reports, publications, and media
  • Prepare and present clear, concise, and accurate reports, briefings, and presentations for various audiences and purposes
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact and effectiveness of the unit's products and services, and provide feedback and recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the unit head, senior staff, and other stakeholders, and contribute to the unit's positive visibility, knowledge management and learning, and
  • Maintain data for workload and project/programme monitoring.
  • Contribute to the quality and timeliness of SIG’s policy delivery, including all events, seminars, products and other policy-related endeavours of the Unit, SIG Banking team Operational Leads and Management of the SIG.

    Knowlegde, Skills, Experience & Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as business, economics, political science, or international relations.
  • Relevant work experience in research, analysis, or consulting, preferably in a strategic or policy-oriented setting.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to handle complex and ambiguous situations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, in English, and the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and purposes.
  • Proficient in using various tools and software for data collection, analysis, and visualisation, such as Excel, PowerPoint, Tableau, or R.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and adaptable, and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience of events management and/or stakeholder engagement
  • IFI experience is considered a plus
