1. Ensure adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, guidelines, and donor requirements.
  2. Implement the WASH activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
  3. Prepare periodic status reports and other documents as required by management.
  4. Ensure proper filing of documents.
  5. Implementation of detailed project work plan.
  6. Coordinate with relevant partners and all relevant stakeholders in the field.
  7. Ensure that procurement, development and distribution of materials and equipment are timely and according to procedures.
  8. Train and develop capacity if implementation team in the field.
  9. Promote and share ideas for technical improvements to improve the quality of the activities.
  10. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need and explore and assess new and better ways to assist.
  11. Contribute to organizational learning through the provision of specific technical analysis, lessons learned and reports
    • Propose and recommend the appropriate WASH interventions for the community based on the assessment’s findings with coordination with the other NRC CC’s team and WASH & Shelter specialist. 
    • Draft full detailed assessment reports based on the findings and as delegated by the line manager
    • Participate and attend state / National level WASH cluster meetings and update the NRC WASH progress, challenges and any issues encountered on the ground.
    • Coordinate with Local authorities and WASH partners on the ground and update NRC WASH interventions, progress, and challenges to avoid duplications and ensure effective usage of resources.
    • Engage with local authorities, community and School management for all phases of WASH interventions from assessments, mobilization, implementation, monitoring and handing over.
    • Collect all feedback and comments from the community, share with management and ensure their feedback to be taken into consideration.
    • Collect beneficiaries’ data using beneficiaries tracking sheet and update   all data related to water provision (Water Point/Sources Construction, Rehabilitation and establishment), water quality testing, provision of sanitation facilities (Construction / rehabilitation of latrines, drainage const / rehab, trainings, etc), hygiene promotion activities and solid waste management activities. 
    • Participate actively in budget developments, monitoring and reviews and participate actively in Project proposal drafting, and reporting. 
    • Carry out activities in a way that reflects the needs of specific groups and individuals e.g. elderly people, minority groups, children, and people with disabilities.
    • Perform any other task relevant to the position as may be assigned by the line manager.
    • Supervise the NRC WASH Project implementation in Juba Internally displaced camp (IDP Camp) in relation to planning and implementation of project interventions.
    • Develop drawings/designs and cost estimates for community or institutional WASH/shelter infrastructure to guide on purchase request and bid/tender processes.
    • Preparation and implementation of training sessions under different project aspects like training of hygiene promoters, handpump mechanics, hygiene clubs, water user committee etc.
    • Conduct beneficiaries’ mobilization and registration at field sites and ensuring project goals are achieved.
    • Taking the lead in data collection in the field for reporting and decision-making purposes.
    • Supervise WASH/shelter construction activities undertaken by contractor and make sure of the quantities and quality of work. 
    • Oversee recruitment of WASH/shelter assistance and enumerators in the field and ensure capacity building and transfer of key skills to build a strong implementation team. 
    • Assist the WASH/Shelter Coordinator in developing beneficiary selection criteria and Standard Operating Procedures to be implemented in the field.
    • Prepare and share on a timely basis progress reports with line manager.
      • Ensure compliance with NRC procedures and policies.
      • Must hold a minimum Diploma/B.SC in Civil Engineering or related field.
      • Experience of 3 years working as a WASH Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context in South Sudan.
      • Experience in running WASH activities, especially Water supply facilities rehabilitation, sanitation approaches, hygiene promotion activities and Cash Based Initiatives tools and approaches.
      • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
      • Documented results related to the position's responsibilities.
      • Fluency in English, both written and verbal is an asset.
      • Knowledge of the local languages and Juba Arabic is an added advantage.
      • Proven experience working with computer aided drawings (AutoCAD, ArchiCAD) for drafting.
      • Good level of competency in computer skills (common Microsoft Windows and Office applications).
      • Proven skills and experience in report writing.
      • Strong organizational and logistical skills and the ability to work with little infrastructure and to function in difficult situations including limited transport options.
