    BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:

    The Logistics Cluster enables global, regional and local actors to meet humanitarian needs. The Logistics Cluster works with the stakeholders in high risk countries and regions to strengthen national supply chain coordination and promote a common methodology towards logistics preparedness among the humanitarian community. In emergencies, where these capacities have been exceeded, leadership, coordination, information and operational services are provided. WFP as the lead agency of the Logistics Cluster maintains a team based in the Supply Chain Division of WFP HQ in Rome. It is comprised of a diverse, multi-skilled group of logisticians and information management officers and is mandated by the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) to complement and co-ordinate the logistics capabilities of co-operating humanitarian agencies during large-scale complex emergencies and natural disasters. The Objectives: Reporting directly to the hiring unit, with a dotted reporting line to the Technology Division, the Senior User Experience (UX) Analyst ensures organization-wide alignment regarding key principles of Digital Transformation such as user-centricity, customer excellence, simplification and field-first requirements definition. Acting as part of a federated network of HCD professionals across the organization, the User Experience Analyst ensures the vision for Digital Transformation is grounded in the field-reality of the different functional divisions and acts as an agent of change by soliciting business requirements and eliciting end-user needs through a Human-Centred Design (HCD) approach. The User Experience Analyst explores the behaviours and motivations of end-users and liaises with stakeholders to define, prototype, and validate the product requirements and functionalities.

    ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Design high and low fidelity prototypes and other UX artifacts to enable the development of solutions;

    • Gather and validate requirements using different techniques that span from HumanCentred Design (HCD), Business Process Modelling (BPM), Design Thinking, Lean, Service Design to Co-design, based on the type of initiative and its stage;

    • Leverage opportunities for process simplification, digitization and automation by conveying appropriate cross-functional conversations with decision makers in order to ensure efficiency gains for the users and the organization

    • Support the business-technology team in defining the product vision, including its success criteria and metrics;

    • Understand and convey the impact of a given technology on people and organizations. Ensure adoption opportunities are maximized by supporting the team defining a rollout plan that takes into account aspects such as change management, training and support

    • Identify blind spots and risky assumptions that might impair the success of the initiative; flag risks and validate assumptions through research and feedback collection before moving to ideation and implementation phases;

    • Conduct ideation sessions and synthesis activities to turn insights into new solution offerings that deliver strategic value to the business and end users;

    • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas and design solutions, articulating design rationale both verbally and visually, including through the design of user journeys and creation User Interface (UI) flowcharts;

    • Coordinate iterative prototype review/testing; communicate results and advocate for end users’ needs to be taken into consideration; assist in revising the requirements as insights from testing are revealed;

    • Ensure organization-wide alignment regarding principles, priorities and methodologies to ensure a human-centred approach to technology introduction by liaising with the HCD federated network of professionals and coordinator;

    • Champion and foster an environment of human-centred design best practices within the organization; drive the team to explore innovative design solutions; • Any other duties as required for the successful delivery of the product.

    Qualifications & Experience Required Education:

    • Advanced University degree in Psychology, Anthropology, Interaction Design, HumanComputer Interaction (HCI), or other related fields obtained from a reputable Institution; or First University Degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

    Experience: • At least 5 years postgraduate progressively responsible professional experience and a proven track record for user experience design working in multidisciplinary teams; Technical Skills & Knowledge:

    • State of the art knowledge of prototyping tools and methodologies • Top knowledge of usability and accessibility principles, ability to work with design systems;

    • In-depth knowledge and proficiency in qualitative research, human-centred design and codesign techniques for requirements gathering and communication, interface design principles, business relationship management, agile scrum framework;

    • Strong analytical skills;

    • Knowledge and hands-on experience with: o Workshop facilitation o Facilitation of feedback sessions on mock-ups o Usability evaluation o Formulation of requirements in terms of tickets for the development team

    • Knowledge and experience with Agile/Scrum frameworks Competencies:

    • Management and leadership skills, showing vision, empowering, building trust; • Excellent communication, presentation skills; • Well organized and detail oriented with strong judgement/decision-making skills;

    • A passion for new technology tools and usage of those tools;

    • Ability to effectively coordinate multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

    • Able to articulate complex application concepts in non-technical language

    • Ability to plan and organize work and communicate effectively;

    • Ability to handle a large volume of work and to meet strict deadlines;

    • Ability to supervise staff, be resourceful, take initiative and use mature judgment; • Ability to deal patiently and tactfully with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Language

    : • Fluency in oral and written English is essential. Intermediate knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian and Spanish) or Portuguese (one of WFP’s working languages) is desirable.
