The Position:
Under the general direction, guidance and supervision of the UNFPA Logistics and Supply Associate and in close cooperation with the programme team, the Driver performs driving, maintenance of vehicle, clerical and logistics functions and also provides reliable and safe driving services ensuring high accuracy of work. The incumbent will be in charge of maintaining the assigned vehicle in excellent working conditions, logging mileage and keeping track of fuel consumption and vehicle service.
The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services to UN officials and visitors ensuring the highest standards of discretion and integrity, sense of responsibility, excellent knowledge of protocol and security issues. The Driver also demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, tact and ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, s/he drives the programme vehicle for transporting authorized personnel and delivery/collection of mail, documents and other items for the UNFPA Moldova office.
The Driver maintains internal contacts with UNFPA staff and visiting officials and collaborates with other drivers in the office. External contacts relate to pick-up and deliveries and arrival/departure formalities. S/he may collaborate with other UN Agency Drivers for major functions. Interacts with national and international partners in carrying out his/her duties.

Job Responsibilities
Drives for UN officials and staff. Ensures provision of reliable and safe driving services by:
a) driving office vehicles for the transport of UN staff, officials and visitors and delivery and collection of mail, documents and other items;
b) meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport including visa and customs formalities arrangement when required. Drives for Programme Team and performs a high number of trips in programmatic settings. Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports. Ensure proper day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle through timely minor repairs, arrangements for major repairs, timely changes of oil, check of tires, brakes and water levels, car washing, etc. so that the vehicle is always kept clean and in good running condition. Ensure proper use of vehicle maintenance plans and assistance in preparing vehicle history reports. Ensure availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle registration, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts in the assigned vehicle. Keeps track of insurance and other tax formalities. Ensures that the steps required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident. Assists office staff in filing, photocopying and maintaining stores when required. Assists in the mailing and distribution of newsletters and publications and arranges to pay office telephone and other bills, as required. Performs other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
Institutional Arrangement
Under the direct supervision of the UNFPA Logistics and Supply Associate, the Driver provides safe, timely, and efficient driving and logistical support services to the UNFPA Moldova Country Office. The Driver ensures the proper operation, maintenance, and cleanliness of the assigned vehicle, in accordance with UNFPA rules, security standards, and safety procedures.
The incumbent supports programme and operational activities through regular field missions, transportation of authorized personnel, and delivery and collection of official documents and materials. The Driver is responsible for maintaining accurate vehicle records, monitoring fuel consumption, and ensuring that all mandatory vehicle documentation and safety equipment are available and valid at all times.
The Driver interacts on a regular basis with UNFPA staff and visiting officials and cooperates with other UN and partner agency drivers when required. External contacts are limited to routine operational matters such as airport pick-ups, deliveries, and coordination with service providers.
The Driver is expected to demonstrate professionalism, discretion, integrity, and a service-oriented approach, while effectively working in a multicultural environment. Any additional administrative or logistical support tasks may be assigned by the supervisor, in line with operational needs.
