The Alliance is supported by a Secretariat hosted by UNEP FI, comprising key leaders of EXIMs and ECAs and working in close collaboration with representatives of respective authorities, other collective initiatives CSOs and leading scholars. The role of the NZECA Senior Advisor includes the wide spectrum of functions within the Secretariat, including support to the current and prospective members, planning and coordination of the Secretariat activities (including development of operational and methodological documents, planning of communications, planning of meetings and other events, periodic reporting, coordination of the Secretariat’s work), liaison with members and other stakeholders including coordination with other initiatives. The overall objective of the UNEP’s Industry and Economy Division is to encourage decision makers in government, local authorities and industry to develop and adopt policies, strategies and practices and technologies that promote sustainable patterns of consumption and production, make efficient use of natural resources, ensure safe management of chemicals and contribute to making trade and environment policies mutually supportive. It promotes the development, use and transfer of policies, technologies, economic instruments, managerial practices and other tools that assist in environmentally sound decision making and the building of corresponding activities. The United Nations Environment Programme Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) is the strategic partnership between the United Nations and over 500 banks, insurers and investors. For over 32 years UNEP FI has been shaping and driving the international sustainable finance agenda, setting global standards and growing a global network of leading financial institutions. Through its work-streams and regional activities, peer learning, methodology development, training and research, UNEP FI promotes sustainable finance and helps the financial industry align with and contribute to the Paris Agreement and Sustainable Development Goals. The Net Zero Export Credit Alliance brings together export credit agencies working on their net-zero goals. UNEP FI supports the project through hosting the Alliance Secretariat and needs a consultant to coordinate its work across various functions including operational procedures, methodological work, coordination with other initiatives, communication with prospective members and other relevant stakeholders. UNEP FI needs a consultant to coordinate operation of the Net Zero Export Credit Alliance Secretariat. The consultant will support the implementation and coordination of the Net-Zero Export Credit Agencies Alliance (NZECA) Secretariat activities. This includes engagement with current and prospective members, development of operational and methodological materials, planning and delivery of communications and events, and coordination with other net-zero alliances and stakeholders. The consultant will deliver the following tasks to support the Net-Zero Export Credit Alliance: ● Supports development and ensures implementation of the Alliance Work Plan; ● Monitors and analyzes project development and implementation; identifies problems and issues to be addressed and proposes corrective actions; ● Develops, in coordination with other team members and external stakeholders, methodological and operational materials for the Alliance; ● Plans and coordinates production of communication and outreach materials; ● Develops reporting formats and coordinate production of periodic reports and other outputs; ● Liaises with members, project partners and sponsors; ● Liaises with ECAs, governmental authorities and other alliance stakeholders; ● Provides substantive support to consultative and other meetings, conferences, etc., to include proposing agenda topics, identifying participants, preparation of documents and presentations, etc. ● Coordinates activities related to budget and funding and prepares related documents/reports. ● In addition, the consultant will perform other tasks to provide overall support to the climate change team with the ongoing projects and activities. The consultant shall be under the overall supervision of the Head of UNEP FI and report directly to the Climate Change Lead, working in close coordination with the secretariats of Net-Zero Asset Owners Alliance (NZAOA) and other net-zero initiatives. Qualifications/special skillsEducation: A bachelor’s degree in finance, sustainability or a related filed is required. A master’s degree may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor’s degree, provided the candidate has 5 years of experience. Professional Experience: At least seven (7) years of working experience in sustainable finance, climate change, environmental management is required. Experience in project management and working in international environment as well as engagement with multiple stakeholders is required. Experience of working with export credits is highly desirable. LanguagesLanguages: English is a working language of the United Nations Secretariat. For this position, fluency in oral and written English is required. Knowledge of other United Nations languages is an asset. Additional InformationSkills & Knowledge: Excellent oral and written communications skills in English, strong interpersonal skills, ability to cope with multiple tasks in an organized and timely manner, attention to detail are expected from the consultant. Knowledge of export credit financial mechanisms, sustainable finance standards and approaches and climate change are important knowledge areas for this position. The consultant should have the ability to establish and maintain good working relations in a multicultural and geographically dispersed team working across functions.
