Your responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled ASIC Data Readout and Support Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be the primary technical liaison between the development team and the users of the Medipix4 and Timepix4 ASICs (https://medipix.web.cern.ch/medipix4), ensuring seamless data readout, integration, and support. The Medipix4 and Timepix4 chips are part of an advanced ASIC family designed for hybrid pixel detector systems used in a wide range of applications, including medical imaging, high-energy physics experiments, and material science.
Key Responsibilities:
Data Readout System Ownership: Manage, maintain, and optimize the Medipix4 and Timepix4 data readout systems, ensuring reliable performance for end users.User Support & Liaison: Serve as the main technical point of contact between the development team and the user community, offering guidance and troubleshooting for any issues related to the Medipix4 and Timepix4, as well as the previous versions of these two ASICs that are still widely used.System Integration: Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure the seamless integration of Medipix4, Timepix4, and future ASICs into various applications.Documentation & Training: Create user guides, technical documentation, and provide training sessions for users to improve their understanding and use of the systems.System Enhancements: Contribute to continuous improvements and updates to the data readout systems and related tools.Your profile
Skills
Technical Background: Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.Experience with DAQ systems for pixel detector systems for particle tracking, imaging or medical applications.Technical Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate complex technical concepts to users with varying levels of expertise.Software Knowledge: Familiarity with DAQ systems, programming, and scripting languages for hardware integration.Problem-Solving Skills: Strong analytical skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex system issues.Collaboration & Teamwork: Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and collaborating across various projects.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.Eligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Electronics, Electrical Eng, Physics (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Job closing date: December 9 at 23:59 CET.
Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
