Work LocationLebanon Expected duration3 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground The SDG Stories Team was established by ESCWA’s Executive Secretary to engage young persons aged 7 to 16, across the Arab region, with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using storytelling. This is achieved primarily through the development and dissemination of a comic book, the “ESCWA Stories”, that presents engaging stories centered on the SDGs. Against this background, services of a Text Processing Assistant (preferably am individual with visual disability) are needed to transcribe the “ESCWA Stories” book (volume V) using Braille system. The Braille embossed copies of the book will be made available to blind and partially sighted students in beneficiary schools. Duties & Responsibilities The recruited individual contractor is required to transcribe volume V of the “ESCWA Stories” into Braille. Qualifications/special skillsA high-school diploma is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 5 years of professional work experience in Braille typing is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic and English is required. Note: \"Fluency\" equals a rating of 'fluent' in all four areas (speak, read, write and understand) and \"Knowledge of\" equals a rating of 'confident' in two of the four areas.
