Join us in a place that can be hotter than the centre of the sun, and colder than the vacuum of space, at the very same time. This is the smartest way to learn more than you can imagine and see your work travel at the speed of light. Almost. This is the fastest way to give your career momentum.
This is your Origin. Where your career begins. Take part!
We are developing and constructing the 'Superconducting Links', which is an up to 120 m long superconducting power transmission lines, transporting up to 120 000 A from power converters in an underground service gallery to the new magnets of the Hi-Luminosity upgrade of the Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC). Are you a motivated technician who would enjoy joining the team at CERN responsible for the series production of this novel cold-powering systems?
We are looking for an electrical or electro-mechanical technician interested to work in a team on the cabling, splicing and testing of high temperature superconducting (HTS) cables, the instrumentation and assembly superconducting current leads and the instrumentation of the connection cryostats of the 'Superconducting Links' (SC-link) of the HL-LHC.
As a technician, you main responsabilities will be:
Testing of HTS tapes (REBCO tapes) in liquid nitrogen (LN2);Re-spooling of HTS tapes and cabling of HTS cables;Splicing of HTS cables;Testing of HTS cables in LN2;Integration of HTS cables into the current leads of the SC-links;Installation of the instrumentation of the current leads;Installation and testing of the instrumentation of the connection cryostats of the SC-links;Electrical tests (incl. high voltage).More information here: https://home.cern/fr/news/news/accelerators/superconductivity-sustainability-new-superconducting-link-high-luminosity
