    SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in some twenty countries, the SI teams – 2500 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

    About the mission

    The emergency Coordinator is in charge of leading and supervising the implementation of rapid response programs in line with both SI annual country strategy and the evolution of the humanitarian needs in the country.
    The Emergency Coordinator will lead the definition of SI's in-country rapid response strategy as well as lead the Sudan Emergency Response Mechanism (ERM) implemented in Consortium with 3 partners. She/He oversees the proper implementation of the ERM projects and activities accross Sudan.
    She/he also supports the Field Coordinators and ERM project managers in the plannification and response of their RRM activities. He/She will coordinate the OCU (Operational Coordination Unit), represents both SI and the ERM Consortium in external meetings as well as lead the development of the ERM toolbox in Sudan.

The main challenges:

Very volatile context, complex relationship with authorities ERM has just been created and launched in Sudan, there is a need for development of tools, harmonization of approaches across Partners Coordination with various actors at different levels (national, sub-national)

Priorities for the 2/3 first months:

Finalise and roll-out the ERM toolbox, including definition of minimum package of assistance across sectors in coordination with Clusters and Consortium partners (Food, WASH, Shelter/NFI, Protection, Health and Nutrition) Launching of the Operational Coordination Unit Support SI teams and Consortium Partners teams in the kick-off of the ERM activities

Specific skills and experience:

3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector A first experience on a similar position Expertise in Rapid Response Mechanism in different contexts Expertise in one of the following sector: WASH, CVA, Shelter/NFI, Health, Nutrition, Protection Representation and Coordination skills Reporting Stress resistance Ability to work in a fast-paced environment Adaptation to a very constraint context

Language:

English French is a plus

A salaried position:

According to experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month (2600 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 750.

SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.

Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.

Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.

LIVING CONDITIONS:

The position is part of the Coordination team, located in Ndjamena, Chad. The post-holder will be living in a shared appartment, with electricity and internet 24h/24h. The living conditions in Ndjamena are very good, with limited to no security constraints, access to various restaurants with diverstifed food, opportunities to socialize and to practice sports (badminton, volley ball, running, swimming pool, gym, cross-fit, tennis, yoga, etc.).

During field visit in Sudan, the living conditions may vary but overall are quite good as well.

SECURITY:

In Sudan: Very volatile context. Level 4. Very limited movements
Ndjamena, Chad: limited to no security constraints.
