Context
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Brazil and direct supervision of the Programme Officer; and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for supporting the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of initiatives related to social protection and humanized reception and reintegration of forcibly returned Brazilians.
In coordination with the National Officer - Institutional Relations, the incumbent will assist in liaising with government counterparts, with a focus on (but not limited to) the Ministry of Human Rights and Citizenship (MDHC), the Ministry of Development and Social Assistance, Family, and Fight against Hunger (MDS) and the Ministry of Health, while also engaging with civil society and local authorities to ensure an integrated and rights-based response.
Position specific skills, for example:
Experience in project management, including managing projects with Government or UN agency, civil society, regional or international organization. Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, national/international institutions, United Nations agencies and non-governmental organizations. Comprehensive understanding of inter-agency coordination related to humanitarian and development responses, including collaboration with UN entities, national authorities, and other stakeholders Practical knowledge of Brazil’s health, social assistance and human rights policies Strong organizational skills, a proven ability to establish priorities and plans, and an ability to work independently; attention to detail and ability to organize; strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to work under pressure. Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming. Knowledge of financial rules and regulations. Languages Fluency in English and Portuguese (oral and written).
