    SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association which, since more than 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their basic needs for food, water and shelter. Particularly committed to the fight against diseases linked to unsafe water, the leading cause of death in the world, SI's interventions provide expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene promotion, but also in the essential area of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, the SI teams – 3200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national staff, permanent staff at HQ, and a few volunteers - intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultural norms.

    About the mission

    SOLIDARITÉS INTERNATIONAL (SI) has been responding to humanitarian needs in South Sudan for over since 2006. In 2023, we will continue working alongside communities in some of the hardest to reach areas. SI provides clean water, sanitation and other lifesaving activities, while supporting vulnerable communities to strengthen their resilience to shocks, rebuild their livelihoods, and regain a sense of normality in some of the hardest of circumstances.

    In 2024, the mission’s estimated budget is of USD 12 million, and there are 80+ employees.

    About the job

    General objective:

    The Grant Manager is the mission’s focal point on ensuring accountability to donors. In addition to the general grant manager tasks, the role will also focus on diversification of funding sources and reinforcement of the Reporting and Communication Officer capacities.

    Specifically, he/she is in charge of:
    • Contributing to the mission’s strategic development.
    • Monitoring and identifying funding opportunities in line with SI country and global strategy.
    • Overseeing compilation of timely and high-quality proposals, reports and contract modification requests for submission to donors and consortium partners.
    • Monitoring compliance with donor procedures throughout the grant cycle and building capacity of new and existing staff on internal accountability tools and donor procedures.
    • Proactively following-up on donor contractual obligations, from contracting to closing and archiving, and ensuring contractual obligations are known and understood by relevant staff/departments.
    • Centralizing and preparing relevant documentation for external audits and audit report archiving.
    • Managing the Reporting and Communication Officer.

    The main challenges:

    • Contributing to the mission’s strategic development.
    • Diversifying fundings sources in line with SI country and global strategy.
    • Capacity building of field staff in terms of reporting, internal accountability tools and donors’ procedures.
    • Increasing the quality of reporting and proposal development.

    Security Constraints:

    There is an internal curfew at night for international staffs. It can be possible to walk in the streets during the day in the permitted zone following the security guidelines. There’s a driver available on evenings and weekends for movements out of office hours.

    Living Conditions:

    The Grants Manager is living in a shared guesthouse with the other international staffs.
    Individual room in the guesthouse, with electricity 24/7. NB: During field visits, living conditions are much more basic.
    Juba, as the capital of South Sudan offers a good variety of markets, supermarkets, restaurants, and bars.

    Your profile

    Education / academic background:

    Master Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management or other related discipline.

    Specific skills and experience: 2-3 years of experience in the humanitarian sector

    Technical skills:

    1. Experience in developing proposals for institutional donors. 2. Experience in drafting donor reports. 3. Experience in developing concept notes and strategy papers. 4. Excellent writing skills. 5. Experience in managing audits and compliance risks.

    6. Experience in budget follow-up.

    Transversal Skills:

    1. Good organization skills. 2. Good coordination and diplomacy. 3. Capacity to adapt and show organizational flexibility. 4. Good stress management. 5. Important flexibility and adaptability. 6. Experience working with SI (or a similar organization) is an asset. 7. Prior experience in South Sudan would be considered as an asset.

    Language:

    Fluent in English written and spoken

    Arabic is an asset

    SI will offer you

    A salaried position:
    According to experience, starting from EUR 2310 gross per month (2100 base salary + 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly) and a monthly Per Diem of USD 700.

    SI also covers accommodation costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's country of origin and the place of assignment.

    Breaks: During the assignment, a system of alternation between work and time off is implemented at the rate of 7 working days every three months (with a USD 850 break allowance, allocated by Sl). To these breaks periods, SI grants one (1) additional rest day per month worked.

    Insurance package: Expatriates benefit from an insurance package which refunds all healthcare expenses (including medical and surgical expenses, dental care and ophthalmological expenses, repatriation) and a welfare system including war risks. Essential vaccination and antimalarial treatment costs are refunded.
