Level of Professional Competence Requirements
Furthermore, this level of responsibility requires the following:
Education:
Second-level university degree in international studies, public policy, political science or law or related field(s); a first-level university degree in combination with eight years of qualifying experience (including three years in management) may be accepted in lieu of the second-level university degree; certified training course in a relevant field is desirable.
Experience:
Minimum 6 years of relevant, diversified and progressively responsible professional experience including at least 3 years at the management level relevant to the actual position.

Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of the Conflict Prevention and Resolution Programme Manager, and under the overall guidance of the Mission’s Senior Leadership, as Senior Political Officer, you will take lead responsibility for the following tasks in support of the Mission's mandate and will be responsible for the following:
Acting as senior advisor to the Head of Mission on political issues and in particular the Transdniestrian settlement process;Proactively and upon request, advising all relevant colleagues in the Mission on political and conflict sensitivities; Drafting and contributing to regular analytical reports, briefings, talking points, and inputs for mission leadership; Support dialogue, negotiation, and confidence-building measures between conflicting parties or stakeholders;Maintaining a broad array of contacts and providing political advice on developments on both banks of the Dniester/Nistru River;Identifying potential risks of conflict or escalation and advising on preventive measures, in liaison with other mission components;Participating in and facilitating negotiations between the sides in all different formats of the Transdniestrian settlement process;Acting as liaison for the Mission with political and public officials and non-governmental representatives throughout Moldova on all mandate issues;Co-ordinating the work of the Mission's Political Office; Supervising the work of three staff;On request, acting as a deputy for the Conflict Prevention and Resolution Programme Manager;
Performing other duties as required.
