We do this by conducting advanced research, promoting capacity development of our partners, and actively engaging with stakeholders to inform policies and practices that affect forests and people.
In the Democratic Republic of Congo, CIFOR, in collaboration with several partners, carries out scientific research, conservation and protection of biodiversity activities mainly around the Yangambi Biosphere Reserve, in the province of Tshopo.
CIFOR develops development activities in a large landscape, on both sides of the Congo River, carried out by teams working from 4 key sites: Kisangani, Yangambi, Yanonge and Bengamisa. The activities are organized by sector and teams, about ten in total. In this context, CIFOR is looking for a Senior Logistics Manager.
Within the Landscape Management Team and in reporting to the Landscape Manager, the Logistics Manager will be responsible for the implementation and supervision of all logistics and security activities in the Yangambi Landscape. These include:
Supervise the purchase of fuel, agricultural inputs, equipment and materials according to the annual forecasts validated by the managers; Supervise and ensure the proper management and security of stocks guaranteeing the availability of fuel, materials, inputs and equipment necessary for the implementation of activities; Ensure the regular updating of inventories (monthly, quarterly and annually); Ensure the availability and proper functioning of IT equipment, internet connectivity and telecommunications means in the landscape; Ensure the proper management of the cart (motorcycles, vehicles, canoes, canoes, rafts, tractors) as well as the rental of vehicles and equipment; Ensure the implementation and compliance with security procedures and rules, in coordination with the landscape manager and the country coordinator; Ensure transport and accommodation logistics for staff and visitors; Establish a waste management system in the Yanonge and Yangambi remote sites; Supervise and coordinate the work of logistics team members in the landscape and evaluate their performance; Update the various SoPs (standard operating procedures); Participate in coordination meetings and ensure regular reporting, including incident reports; Regularly report to the Landscape Manager/Country Coordinator on the progress of logistics activities;The logistics manager works closely with the landscape manager, the administrative and financial director and the activity managers.
