  Context Under the direct supervision of the Senior Regional Labor Mobility Specialist at the Regional Office for the Americas in Panama, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting regional thematic initiatives, the monitoring and analysis of regional thematic trends, regional thematic project development, and review projects and reports related to the thematic area of expertise in the Region.

1. Support work plan implementation at both country and regional levels on labour mobility and related topics, including migrant integration, diaspora engagement, community development, skills training and education, and complementary pathways. 

2. Assist in reviewing and tracking quality LMD-related projects, reports and activities developed by Country Offices (COs) in the region, providing regular updates to Headquarters (HQ) and supporting COs in resource mobilization efforts. 

3. Support with positioning IOM as a leader in labour mobility by contributing to maintaining networks with governments, UN agencies, NGOs, academia, and other stakeholders. 

4. Support the roll-out and implementation of LMD related global tools and guidance. 

5. Coordinate information sharing on projects within the Regional Office and with relevant HQ departments. 

6. Provide input to regional thematic guidance notes, information sheets, and policy documents in collaboration with relevant stakeholders. 

7. Support the maintenance of the regional LMD sharepoint, including updating of focal points list and training material. 

8. Provide general administrative, logistical and technical support to the RTS, including on organization of workshops and webinars. 

9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Economics or Development Studies, Business Administration, Migration Studies, International Relations, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with four (4) years of relevant professional experience. 
  • Or high school diploma with 6 years of relevant professional experience. Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.   Experience

    • Experience in the thematic area 
    • Experience in liaising with governmental authorities, other national/international institutions and NGOs;
