We are seeking a Senior Knowledge Management Officer for a 1-year term, with a 3-month probation period, based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The role involves documenting, monitoring, and reporting on mediation and dialogue processes under the Silencing the Guns Unit and Mediation and Dialogue Division, reporting directly to the Head of MDD. The Mediation and Dialogue Division (MDD) of the African Union’s (AU) Political Affairs, Peace and Security Department (PAPS) was established in 2021 and is mandated to provide technical and operational support on the preventive diplomacy, mediation, dialogue, and reconciliation efforts undertaken by the Commission (i.e., through Special Envoys, High Representatives, Panel of the Wise and its subsidiary mechanisms – PanWise & FemWise-Africa, etc.), as well as to the RECs/RMs and Member States.
Organizational Setting and Reporting
Working in the framework of the Silencing the Guns Unit and the Mediation and Dialogue Division (MDD), in the implementation of their mandate, the Senior Knowledge Management Officer will be under the direct supervision of the Head of MDD. The officer will be responsible for effective documentation, monitoring, and reporting on Mediation and Dialogue processes.

Education: A Master’s degree in business or public administration, management, statistics, economics, political science or other related fields; with seven (7) years of experience at specialist or expertise level in programme/project management area of work. A Bachelor degree in the above-mentioned fields with at least ten (10) years relevant experience will be considered in lieu of a Master’s degree; Work Experience: Good comparative knowledge of KM strategies of the AU, RECs/RMs or the UN is desirable;Knowledge of African Union Agenda 2063 and its flagship project of Silencing the Guns would be advantageous;Previous experience with Government, NGO, multilateral, regional or international institutions would be advantageous; Skills and Competencies: Proven ICT skills, especially in MS-Excel and Statistical Data software’s;Sound planning and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail;Excellent communication and writing skills, including sound concept development and reporting skills;Ability to work under pressure, stay on track and meet deadlines;Ability to understand the work of governments, NGOs and multi-lateral institutionsComputer literate and well versed in the use of the Internet, Power Point, Excel and Word;Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with colleagues in a multi-cultural environment and multi-lateral institution.Tenure of Appointment
The appointment shall be for a period of one (1) year, with the possibility of renewal, the first three (3) months of which shall be on probation.
Remuneration
The salary attached to the position is at P3 Step 5 inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff.
