Result of ServiceThe potential candidate is expected to effectively collect/receive security related information from UN staff members and disseminate relevant information through the appropriate channels to the relevant mission stakeholders to facilitate timely operational response to security related incidents. The candidate is also expected to respond to radio communication sent via available UNISFA networks and initiate appropriate responses. Work LocationAbyei Expected duration6 Months Duties and ResponsibilitiesWithin limits of delegated authority and under the guidance and supervision of the Security Operation Center Supervisor, the incumbent will be responsible to carry out the following duties and responsibilities: a. In coordination with Security Operations Center (SOC) Operations Officer, disseminate any radio communication and information received via mission specific talk group. b. Alert the SOC Operation Supervisor or the Chief security Officer (CSO) immediately of any serious accident received via radio. c. Monitoring and controlling the main radio network and all other radio networks to ensure that staff and all others using the radio networks utilize the proper protocol. d. Ensuring that all communications equipment is in working condition before the start of duty. e. Receiving, recording, & pass all security related information, email, PAXSs and others received through group email address to supervisory channels in coordination with the SOC Operations Officer or the CSO. f. Notifying the supervisor of any incident and accident reported via communication network. g. Requesting and accurately identifying and verifying exact location of all incidents and accidents. h. Advising all radio users who stray to the security channels with matters not related to security to switch to the proper talk group. i. Conducts radio checks with all Security Guards on duty daily. j. Conducts radio checks with all International Security Officers at designated hours daily (including weekends and holidays). k. Conducts radio checks with all International Staff and Re-locatable National Staff including UN Agencies and Visitors at designated hours daily. l. Monitors the various radio channels and reports all security incidents to the Security Duty Officer. m. Assists in broadcasting all security related information to Mission Staff Members via the various radio channels as directed by OIC Security Operation Center/Security Duty Officer. n. Provides necessary assistance to all UN staff and staff of other affiliated organizations who may need security assistance through radio channels or telephone. o. Advises all radio users who stray to the security channel with matters not related to security to switch to the proper channel. p. Responds to all telephone calls coming into the radio room and directs the person to the appropriate section. q. Maintains control of all spare keys to Mission offices. Registers the withdrawal and return of all keys in the key register logbook. Maintains the key control register. r. Assists in recording and maintaining all activities occurring during his/her shifts. s. Assists in maintaining an updated list of all emergency contact numbers. t. Assists in maintaining the telephone numbers and call signs of all senior security personnel, International and National Staff including UN Agencies and Visitors. u. Maintains all equipment assigned to the radio room. v. Reports any damages of any equipment assigned to the radio room and arranges for the repairs of such equipment. w. Performs other duties as directed by the Supervisor Qualifications/special skillsHigh School Diploma or equivalent is required. At least one (1) year experience in UN Security Radio Operation is required At least one (1) year of progressive experience with a local, national or private police, security, fire brigade organization or previous operational, administrative occupation/employment is desirable. LanguagesFluency in English (written and oral) is required. Knowledge of Arabic is desirable. Additional InformationNot available.
