Org. Setting and ReportingFive FS-4 Security Officer positions are located in different areas of operations within the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL). The Security Officer reports to the Chief Security Officer or his/her designate. Responsibilities1. Monitor prevailing local security conditions and trends, and provide advice and training to UN personnel and eligible dependents on security-related issues. 2. Assist in the preparation, review, and updating of Security Risk Management (SRM) documents. 3. Contribute to the preparation and implementation of the security plan. 4. Draft and update security contingency plans. 5. Monitor air, land, and sea emergency evacuation capabilities, and conduct relocation and evacuation exercises. 6. Serve as a member of the Security Cell. 7. Collaborate closely with UNDSS, Agencies, Funds, and Programmes (AFPs), and INGOs to facilitate information sharing and ensure the safe delivery of UN programmes. 8. Assist in briefing the Chief Security Officer, or delegate, on the status, activities, and requirements of the unit. 9. Assist in managing the guard force, and monitor and evaluate their performance. 10. Conduct routine physical security inspections of facilities, identify faults, make recommendations for improvement, and ensure the implementation of security measures. 11. Investigate security-related incidents and accidents involving UNSMS personnel. 12. Assist with the issuance of UN identity cards, background checks, and access control. 13. Perform duties in the Security Operations Room (as required), maintain tracking systems, and support the coordination of a 24-hour Emergency Response System. 14. Monitor security equipment to ensure minimum requirements are met, and manage the procurement, maintenance, and deployment of equipment in accordance with relevant SOPs and procedures. 15. Maintain and manage the warden system in line with established guidelines and procedures. 16. Assists in planning of protective services for Senior UN Officials, as necessary. 17. UNDSS certification in any of the following is desirable: Security Certification Programme (SCP) or Security Analysis Processes and Practice (SAPP). Experience in organising and implementing field missions in high-risk environments is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
