Work LocationLebanon Expected duration6 months Duties and ResponsibilitiesBackground: The SDG Stories Team was established by ESCWA’s Executive Secretary to engage young persons aged 7 to 16, across the Arab region, with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) using storytelling. This is achieved primarily through the development and dissemination of a comic book, the “ESCWA Stories”, that presents engaging stories centered on the SDGs. Against this background, SDGs Advocates are needed to help conduct a training of trainers (ToT) for educators in Lebanon, on the use of the “ESCWA stories” book as an educational tool on sustainable development. Duties & Responsibilities: SDGs Advocates are required to undertake the following tasks: · Participate in training sessions on the 2030 Agenda and SDGs, with a special focus on SDG 4.2, in preparation to train other educators. · Train educators on using the “ESCWA stories” comic book (volume I, II, III, IV and V) as an educational tool to raise the awareness of students on the work of the United Nations and SDGs. · Start a cooperative process between students and educators to develop a proposal for a student-led sustainable development project to be implemented at the school. · Supervise the implementation of the sustainable project, in close coordination with the SDG Stories Team at ESCWA. Qualifications/special skillsA high-school diploma is required. All candidates must submit a copy of the required educational degree. Incomplete applications will not be reviewed. A minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in schools in Lebanon is required. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and Arabic is a working language of ESCWA. For this position, fluency in Arabic is required. Knowledge of English and French is desirable.
