What we are looking for:

The Internal Displacement Monitoring Centre (IDMC) is seeking a seasoned Quality Assurance & Methodologies Adviser to oversee and guide the application of methodologies for collecting and analysing displacement data. This role is critical in maintaining the quality and consistency of IDMC’s datasets, advancing tools to monitor displacement caused by conflict and disasters, and offering technical expertise in interpreting complex datasets.

What you will do:

Quality assurance

Oversee the upload of detected displacement events and ensure that that data is accurate, timely and collected at the appropriate spatial and temporal scales Ensure monitoring guidance and standards are implemented, followed and updated as required coordinating with the Global Monitoring Manager Conduct QA of data and sources to ensure the quality and consistency of the data and of various reporting outputs (quarterly snapshots, internal displacement updates, figures analyses, etc.) Explore alternatives methods to fill data gaps coordinating with the Data and Risk Analysis Manager

Maintenance and development of the monitoring methodology

Provide training and ongoing methodological guidance to the Data Coordinators, including assisting them to address specific monitoring challenges  Organise regular meetings with the Data Coordinators to ensure methodological harmonisation across regions. Regularly update IDMC’s monitoring methodologies in coordination with the Global Monitoring Manager and the Data and Risk Analysis Manager.

Technical support and advice

Assist in developing monitoring tools and data platforms, which may include documenting gaps in existing tools, coordinating on improvements, and/or providing user feedback on information management tools and processes Assist the Data Coordinators to conduct analyses of complex datasets.

What you will bring:

Master’s degree in international affairs, social sciences, displacement, migration, humanitarian or development studies, information science or related field Five years of relevant experience in data analysis, development of methodologies, and managing quantitative data Highly organised and extremely detail oriented  Can perform well under pressure and ability to deliver under tight deadlines when necessary Previous experience developing data standards, databases and information management systems Previous experience providing oversight on the quality control of data and analyses Advanced proficiency in the use of Excel, databases and online research tools for the capture, organisation and analysis of information Advanced knowledge of Python and R programming languages Fluent communication skills in English, both written and verbal Fluency in French or Spanish will be an asset.

What we offer:

Duty station: Any country where NRC has an Office, or EOR offices in France, Italy, Demark, Finaland, Spain & Canada. This can also be a consultancy contract.    Contract: 1 year.   Travel: with 5%.
