Duty Station : Yangon with 80 % travel to all field sites including NSS, Kachin and Rakhine.

Overall purpose of the role:

The Protection Specialist – Prevention is responsible for providing technical supervision and guidance to DRC Myanmar field teams and partner protection programs, with a focus on prevention and CPB under General Protection (GP), Gender-Based Violence (GBV), and Child Protection (CP) programming. This role emphasizes capacity-building for organization staff, partners, and communities to strengthen local protective factors and create sustainable, resilient protection frameworks.

Responsibilities:

The Protection Specialist (Prevention):

Develop and implement prevention and community-based protection strategies across General Protection, GBV, and Child Protection, ensuring they address local risks, protection needs, and promote resilience. Collaborate with Protection Monitoring and Analysis Specialist and Protection Response Specialist to identify protection risks and trends, ensuring all prevention interventions are focused on addressing relevant protection risks. Provide remote and in-person supervision, technical support and guidance to field teams and partners implementing awareness, information dissemination, CBP, IMAP, positive parenting and other similar GBV and CP curriculums Update quality checklist on quarterly basis to ensure all activities are in line with minimum standards Ensure all activity trackers are up to date by working closely with AO protection teams. Develop and implement quality assurance mechanisms to ensure activities are effective, and continuously improved. Monitors documentation to ensure high quality and timely recording on DRC’s Activityinfo information management system. Conducts regular field visits to ensure that all prevention and CBP activities are of a high quality. Provides capacity building for protection staff working on prevention and CBP, through training, mentoring and shadow visits. Design and lead partner capacity building plans in consultation with APM and CO PM. Identify training needs and provide tailored support to address any knowledge or skill gaps within the DRC team Review community action plans and provide support to DRC AO and partner teams with CBP processes Develops monitoring tools for assessing the quality of prevention activities, in collaboration with the Protection and MEAL Managers. Contribute to concept notes and proposals. Contributes to donors and management reports. Updates SOPs and manuals relating to response activities including information dissemination, different prevention curricula, awareness raising, CBP and others as required Develops and delivers training to DRC field teams and partners on relevant protection topics. Provides technical oversight to partners undertaking non-specialized services Train field staff in using ActivityInfo for accurate, timely data entry, and support continuous improvement of data quality and reporting. Participates in relevant coordination meetings, as agreed with the Protection Manager. Undertakes other tasks, as requested by the Protection Manager.

Experience and technical competencies:

Degree in Social Work or another relevant social science; Masters would be an advantage. Minimum 3 years of experience working for an INGO in the protection sector, including CBP and prevention experience. Experience doing prevention work. Proven experience working in at least two protection sub-sectors, such as Gender-Based Violence (GBV), Child Protection (CP), and General Protection (GP). Experience providing training on protection topics including provision of remote technical support Experience working with national partners, local/government authorities, and UN organizations Excellent skill in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Full professional proficiency in English and a Myanmar language

Conditions

Contract: DRC will offer the successful applicant a DRC’s Regular contract included 3-month probation. Renewable depends on both funding and performance. Salary and conditions will be in accordance with DRC’s Terms of Employment. The position is placed in Employment Band G- non management.
