What you will do:

• Here are some of your specific responsibilities.
• Manage protection projects in line with needs, budget, strategy and donor requirements.
• Develop protection monitoring, protection case management, individual protection assistance (IPA), and community safety responses to improve quality and standards of service delivery
• Responsible for protection inputs and participation in needs assessments, planning and implementation of responses to new emergencies, providing regular protection context and risk analyses.
• Collaborate with HR on recruitment of project staff. Daily management of Protection from Violence programme activities in Rakhine area office and regularly monitor, evaluate and suggest changes and improvements to the programme and tools based on observations and discussions with critical interfaces.
• In cooperation with Protection from Violence staff, prepare monthly reports and supervise data collection for the MEL reporting, organize relevant Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM) and Outcome Monitoring Exercise (OME).
• Building on the OME analysis, organize and lead on the Protection from Violence Lesson Learnt workshop at least once a year in coordination with the MEL Unit.
• Conduct frequent travels to the field to supervise program implementation.
• Ensure good cooperation and exchange of information within the protection team, as well as other relevant partners and external actors.
• Ensure protection team members have opportunities for learning and capacity building.
• Represent NRC in relevant cluster/working groups as directed by the Area Programme Manager or suggested by the Protection from Violence Specialist.
• Management of local partners throughout the project cycle.
• Contribute to the development of NRC’s country strategy, action plan and priorities in the protection sector

  • Experience from working in complex and volatile contexts.
  • At least 3 years of progressively responsible experience from a senior level project implementation position in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Technical Protection expertise, understanding of international standards, and protection fundamental concepts and guiding principles.
  • Project management experience, including management of staff and team building/motivation, project cycle management, MEL analysis, donor reporting.
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities and competencies.
  • Experience in coordinating humanitarian aid in complex emergencies desirable.
  • Knowledge about candidate’s own leadership skills/profile.
  • Fluency in Burmese and English, both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Protection Monitoring, Individual Protection Assistance and Case Management.
  • Previous experience in working in IDP camp and non-camp settings.
  • Knowledge of Rakhine context is an asset

    What we offer:

    • Duty station: Sittwe, Rakhine State. 
    • Contract: Until December 2025 with the possibility of extension. 
    • Salary/benefits: grade 8 on NRC’s Resident salary scale, with accompanying terms and conditions.
