Purpose of the Job
The Protection Officer – Case Management will be responsible to identify cases, work closely with adults at high risk of harm and provide them case management services according to standardized procedures and protocols. The Protection Officer – Case Management will work from case management office in the field and receive and visit cases referred to them, assess their needs and provide them with support as per the action plan developed, ensuring regular follow up. The officer will also be responsible to coordinate with service providers to ensure support the cases. The officer will be working closely with the protection project manager.

Generic responsibilities
Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines. Assist implementation of the protection portfolio according to plan of action. Support implementation of protection monitoring and protection case management activities. Support protection case management activities in the designated areas, and report timely about identified concerns and risks that beneficiaries face, in accordance with principles, established tools and mechanisms. Develop and maintain knowledge of protection, in order to be most effective in supporting the team. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management. Ensure confidentiality and proper filing of relevant documents. Ensure that protection monitoring reports reflect issues faced and raised by all (diverse) community members, as well as are representative of the situation on the ground. Ensure that case management includes all eligible individuals, as per adopted guidance. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.Specific responsibilities
Undertake daily protection case management activities such as identification of vulnerable people, provision of services to beneficiaries, and referral process. Run the process of the case management with respect to the anonymity and confidentiality of the recipient to ensure that activities are carried out in accordance with relevant standards, guidelines and SOPs. Regularly accompany the team on the field visits to provide support and guidance and to monitor quality of case management activities. Ensure that service mapping is regularly updated in collaboration with other team, and it is well explained to the staff. Liaise with information management staff and ensure keeping accurate management of data records and databases/trackers, M&E matrix. Produce case management report monthly. Support protection Team leader and Protection Coordinator in designing and delivering training to the staff to ensure that they are able to carry out proper protection case management activities. Ensure that all data and information pertaining to protection monitoring are handled in strict confidence, and in line with applicable data protection and information sharing protocols. Attending ad-hoc internal meeting or external meeting/training to represent the protection team and present as necessaryGeneric professional competencies:
Bachelor Degree in Social Science, Human Rights or other related field. At least 3 years working experience of implementing case management, individualized assistance preferably in humanitarian context with INGOs and or other international implementing partners. Protection related experience, especially case management related experience. Good understanding of risks, stakeholders and dynamics relevant to humanitarian protection of vulnerable displaced persons in Afghanistan Strong understanding of humanitarian response architecture, particularly in terms of emergency response and humanitarian protection Knowledge of human rights and protection with a focus on vulnerable individuals Good understanding of the gender dynamics at play and the way it requires adaptation Knowledge and prior working experience in southern provinces. Demonstrated understanding of working with vulnerable adults Demonstrated strong ability in English and Local languages (Pashto and Dari) Ability to write detailed case work in English Strong interpersonal skillsBehavioral competencies

Monthly Salary based on NRC Afghanistan Salary Scale. Mobile Phone with Top up Credit card. NRC will cover staff plus four (4) depended for medical insurance. Pension Allowances on monthly basis.
