Duties and ResponsibilitiesThis internship is based in the Property Management Sub-Unit (PMSU), Resources Management Unit (RMU), Central Support Services (CSS), Division of Administration, United Nations Office at Geneva (UNOG). The intern will report to the Chief of PMSU. The management of United Nations property is governed by a regulatory framework that defines policies and procedures for the control, safekeeping, recording, utilization, maintenance, and disposal of UN assets. These assets represent a significant investment by UN Member States and are critical for supporting global operations and fulfilling the UN’s mandate. The PMSU at UNOG provides property management services to client offices with property located in Geneva, ensuring compliance with organisational rules and procedures (such as Maintaining an up-to-date equipment register, Conducting annual physical verifications, Performing progress, performance, and KPI analysis, Asset accounting, Manging UNOG’s Donation Programme for IT equipment and furniture supporting eligible entities per internal procedures, Overseeing the reporting, retention, and disposal of honours, decorations, favours, gifts, and remuneration received from governmental and non-governmental sources). The intern will support the PMSU team in one or several of the following key areas: • Annual Physical Verification Exercise: Participate in the yearly verification of UN property in Geneva, including preparatory activities, physical verification, and record reconciliation using MS Excel. • Donation Programme: Assist in handling and coordinating donation requests, ensuring compliance with internal procedures. • Honours, Decorations, and Gifts Management: Contribute to the review and organization of received items, including physical rearrangement, database cleanup, and drafting of internal procedures. • Operational Useful Life (OUL) Data Management: Assist in the preparation, review, and dispatching of OUL-related data to client entities, including coordination and data analysis. • Property Data Analysis: Collaborate with the team to conduct ad hoc analysis on UN property-related data. • Team Coordination and Documentation: Take notes during relevant meetings and assist in team coordination. • Other Duties: Provide additional support as required. Qualifications/special skillsThe intern is expected to have a demonstrated keen interest in the work of the United Nations. Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's degree or equivalent). Academic background in economics, international business, management, business administration, development studies, asset management, accounting, or related field is desirable. Applicants should be proficient in standard Microsoft software applications particularly Excel, Word, Outlook. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the Internship Programme. Working knowledge of French is an advantage.
