  Context

Under the overall supervision of the Head of Protection (PXD) Unit and direct supervision of the Senior Project Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible for supporting day to day implementation of activities of the Protection Unit and be requested to perform the following duties and responsibilities:

  1.  Assist with the implementation and monitoring of the project activities related to the awareness-raising on safe migration pathways 
  2. Assist in the organization and implementation of events, training, workshops, focus groups, activities in the field, facilitating smooth implementation of project activities.  
  3. Support the development of targeted communications and outreach materials (IEC, BCC Materials) on safe and regular migration, Human Trafficking (HT) and Smuggling of Migrants (SoM).  
  4. Support project visibility in accordance with IOM's visibility guidelines and donor requirements and in close collaboration with the supervisor and relevant units in the Mission. 
  5. Support with the follow up with local authorities and promote the engagement of civil society by involving local stakeholders and creating partnerships with local entities.
  6. Support in community engagement and capacity building of youth and civil society organizations.
  7. Assist with the collection of migration data, information, materials, and knowledge products in order to promote information sharing, support evidence-based policies, and practices, and raise awareness in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  8.  Monitor the planned project activities at the capital and field levels. 
  9.  Draft reports and other project related documents, including contributing to donor reports and preparing meeting minutes and notes on activity status. 
  10. Travel to project locations as needed to provide on-the-ground support and ensure project implementation aligns with IOM vision.
  11. Perform other duties as may be assigned by your supervisor. Education
    • Bachelor’s degree in social science, Public Administration, Economics, International Relations, or a related field with three years of relevant experience, or 
    • School diploma with five years of relevant experience.  Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.   Experience
      •  Experience with a government, non-government, or international organization in the implementation and/or support of implementation of development projects. 
      • Experience in the field of migration, with a focus on awareness-raising initiatives, community engagement and capacity building with youth and civil society organizations.
      • Experience in organizing and coordinating trainings, events or workshops, including logistical support, communication with stakeholders, and handling on-the-ground operations.
      • Experience in administrative roles involving document management, filing, reporting, and supporting the preparation of financial and operational documentation.
      • Experience in supporting the implementation of community engagement activities with youth and civil society organizations.
      • Experience in drafting reports in English; and
      • Previous experience with IOM will be considered an advantage. Skills
        • Great organizational skills to manage multiple tasks and maintain organized records and documents.
        • Strong verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders, report project progress, and prepare clear documentation.
        • Capacity to work well with colleagues, local communities, and external partners, ensuring smooth project execution.
        • Expertise in the area of communication, design and production of visibility materials (photography and video editing) will be considered an advantage; and
        • Knowledge of IOM financial rules and regulations will be considered an advantage.
        • Good knowledge of Human Rights and Protection; Knowledge of Counter-Trafficking is an advantage. 
        • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization:
