    Job Purpose:

    To provide effective specialized support and technical analyses to policy and programme activities that effectively meet food assistance needs and longer-term interventions. The selected incumbent will be responsible for supporting the programme policy officer in integrating nutritional recommendations in programmatic planning. Key responsibilities will include coordinating with food manufacturers, government and other agencies to support the development and implementation of effective fortification programs addressing public health needs. The role also involves providing technical support for nutrition activities, including budget preparation, conducting field visits, monitoring progress, managing and analyzing data, preparing periodic reports, and liaising with both internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and share information.

    Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to the capacity building of WFP staff, partners, and government agencies, acting as a point of contact for resolving operational issues, and offering guidance to junior staff.

    The selected incumbent will be required to use judgment in dealing independently with unforeseen daily problems, and to demonstrate responsibility and initiative to respond independently to various queries with only general guidance, while being a team player able to communicate and partner effectively with a range of individuals.

    Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):

    Within delegated authority and under the direct supervision of the Programme Policy Officer (Nutrition), the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:

    • Provide technical support and assist in the development and implementation of various activities and processes within the specific area of work supporting alignment with wider programme policies and guidelines.
    • Provide specialized project management support to specific and/or defined programmes to ensure that the various activities are performed within the established targets following WFP’s policies and procedures.
    • Within the specific area of responsibility, prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
    • Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. assistance programmes, food security and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
    • Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
    • Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.
    • Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the specific technical area.
    • Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
    • Oversee and/or review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
    • Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
    • Perform other related duties, as required.

      STANDARD MINIMUM ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

      Education: Completion of secondary school education. University degree in the fields of nutrition, food science, public health, or a related field is considered an asset.

      Experience: Six (6) years of experience in the humanitarian or development sectors, with at least three years of experience in food production, nutrition, or public health, particularly in food fortification or similar initiatives

      Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.

      Required Experiences for entry into the role:

      • Good knowledge of nutrition principles, food security, food systems and production, public health concepts and issues.
      • Practical experience in implementing programmes, especially nutrition activities/projects.
      • Experience working with technical teams, and with different stakeholders such as NGOs, communities, government, donors.
      • Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills, ability to plan and organize work under tight deadlines, ability to work independently and efficiently.
      • Experience supporting the design and delivery of training sessions to different audience.
      • Strong relationship-building skills.
      • Ability to apply strategic thinking.
      • Experience in drafting progress reports, presentations and utilizing spreadsheets.

        Desired Skills and Knowledge:

        • Good knowledge of food fortification processes and programs.
        • Experience observing or assisting with regulations and policy discussions.
          • Familiarity with emerging trends, best practices, and research in the field of nutrition and fortification.
          • Familiarity with the Lebanese regulation systems and policies in relation to nutrition
          • Drives quality results and delivers on commitment in uncertain environments.
          • Knowledge of WFP and the wider UN system.
          • Experience overseeing and/or reviewing the work of other support staff and providing guidance.
