Organizational Background:

WFP Lebanon provides cash assistance to Syrian refugees and in-kind assistance to vulnerable Lebanese, while supporting the Government in strengthening social safety nets. WFP supports resilience-building activities, and its school meals programme improves nutrition and school attendance. Since October 2023, WFP has provided food and cash assistance to people affected by the conflict and has scaled up its food assistance including the distribution of daily meals following the recent escalation.

Job Purpose: Under the direct supervision of the Food Security and Agriculture Cluster Coordinator, the incumbent will coordinate and facilitate a collaborative platform across all partners involved in food assistance during the emergency, ensuring alignment with Disaster Risk Management (DRM) and Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) analysis and requests. This role involves coordinating with stakeholder on collective needs, maintaining regular communication with WFP field offices regarding planned responses, and representing the food security cluster in coordination platforms such as ISCG, Governor ad hoc humanitarian meetings, and DRM/DRR updates. Additionally, the incumbent will lead geo-split sub-national coordination, facilitate collective partners’ contingency and stock planning, and provide guidance on responses based on gap analysis and stakeholder agreements.
Key Responsibilities (not all-inclusive, nor exhaustive):
• Within the specific area of responsibility, prepare a range of reports and data analysis (e.g. food assistance needs, resource utilization, programme status, performance) and highlight trends/issues ensuring deliverables adhere to corporate standards and quality control.
• Ensure and/or perform accurate, timely recording of data within the specific technical area of work (e.g. assistance programmes, food security and vulnerability assessments) and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
• Liaise with internal counterparts to support effective collaboration, implementation and monitoring of ongoing project activities.
• Coordinate and communicate with local partners, agencies, NGOs and government institutions to perform accurate food security analyses and to ensure efficient delivery of food assistance.
• Support the capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners and national government within the specific technical area.
• Act as a point of contact for resolution of a range of operational queries and problems within a specific technical area of responsibility.
• Oversee and/or review the work of other support staff, providing practical advice and guidance, to contribute to delivering objectives to agreed standards and deadlines.
• Follow standard emergency preparedness practices to ensure WFP is able to quickly respond and deploy needed resources to affected areas at the onset of the crisis.
Standard Minimum Academic Qualifications:
Education: Completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in the related functional area
.
Experience: Minimum six years of professional experience with gradual responsibilities in Coordination, program, or communications in a humanitarian, or development or emergency settings .
Language: Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic. Knowledge of French language is an added advantage.
Required Skills and Knowledge for entry into the role:
• Experience with coordination, working with several stakeholders, and using reporting/tracking systems.
• Experience doing research and analytical work
• Strong communications skills, including report writing and proofreading
• Strong networking ability and attention to details skills
• Proficient in MS Office package, particularly in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to work in challenging environments/field locations.
Desired Skills and Knowledge for entry into the role:
• Previous experience with humanitarian organizations and/or in emergencies is an advantage
• Experience in contributing to implementation of programmes.
• Experience in working or coordinating with ministries focal points, government field offices representatives
