Positioning in Web3 Communication Consultant (LAB/DIS)
Location: United States of America
The IDB Group is a community of diverse, versatile, and passionate people who come together on a journey to improve people’s lives in Latin America and the Caribbean. Our people find purpose and do what they love in an inclusive, collaborative, agile, and rewarding environment. IDB Lab, the innovation and venture arm of the IDB Group established in 1993, is dedicated to driving impactful development in the LAC region, with a specific emphasis on empowering poor and vulnerable populations through emerging entrepreneurial innovations.
As the innovation laboratory of the IDB Group, IDB Lab actively collaborates with multiple organizational units across the IDB group. Collaboration is at the core of IDB Lab’s essence and allows the IDB group to leverage in- house expertise in emerging technologies and to have direct access to the ecosystem of innovation in our region. A concrete example of a successful collaboration among multiple IDB group areas is IDB Lab’s LACChain flagship initiative. This initiative, under the leadership of the IDB Lab, has established the World largest enterprise blockchain infrastructure, serving as gateway for maximizing the use of WEb3 technologies.
LACChain stands as an IDB Lab digital asset, offering both infrastructure and technical expertise that have been capitalized on and can be capitalized further to improve IDB Lab’s productivity in delivering services with the highest standards and in achieving extraordinary impact. With the swift evolution of technology and the rise of Web3, it becomes imperative for IDB Lab to proactively explore opportunities for strategic positioning itself as one key user both for corporate and operational use cases. As demonstrated by the LACChain’s track record, Web3 presents fresh avenues for innovation, cost-savings and impact, closely aligning with IDB Lab's Strategy+ aimed at achieving impactful outcomes and fostering development through innovation and technology. With the Productivity Fund’s (PF) support, LACChain is enabling IDB Lab to fully capitalize on these capacities to enhance its organizational efficiency and impact.
This support is fully aligned with the categories of uses for the Productivity Fund approved by the Donors Committee (MIF/GN-139): (i) to provide resources to assist IDB Lab staff in conducting research and development, build intellectual capital, and prepare projects in new areas, (ii) to provide new models for making the IDB Lab’s expertise available through advisory services, (iii) to build capacity, (iv) to build, and provide user training for, appropriate technological systems to better evaluate project effectiveness and (v) to provide resources to support the work of establishing alliances with other relevant parties. The PF support to LACChain will help to provide staff specialization in new areas, scale up successful projects, identify and disseminate best practices, and structure innovative projects to increase IDB Lab’s productivity. Additionally, the funds will support advisory services, capacity building, and fostering ecosystem development through strategic alliances, ensuring the sustainable growth and impact of Web3, blockchain, digital wallets, and tokenization projects as a key part of IDB Lab value proposition.
