Join the Open Quantum Institute at CERN to help develop quantum computing use cases for the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals! The Open Quantum Institute (OQI) is a multilateral governance initiative that promotes global and inclusive access to quantum computing and the development of applications for the benefit of humanity. OQI is hosted at CERN during its pilot phase (2024-2026), as part of CERN's wider strategy to ensure technology and expertise has a positive impact on society.
As an Applications Project Manager you will contribute to driving quantum computing to realize its widest possible societal impact by accelerating the development of use cases geared towards achieving the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
You will establish and nurture diverse teams around each use case, composed of researchers, developers and entrepreneurs from academia and private sector as well as the United Nations and large NGOs.
Specifically, as an Applications Project Manager you will:
Animate teams and monitor project progress, set realistic deadlines, assign tasks to team members and solve issues that arise.Keep alignment with the OQI mission and report on progress to relevant stakeholders.Establish and nurture relationships with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds and expertise.Establish and maintain processes for teams during the project lifecycle, including organizing regular meetings, workshops and brainstorming sessions.Keep track of the progress and performance of the projects and the focus and efficiency of their team members.Coordinate internal and external resources.Your profile
Skills and/or knowledge
Extensive experience in innovation and project management.Advanced knowledge of the quantum computing application development phases and timeline.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to build both internal and external relationships.Excellent communication and presentation skills and ability to adjust to different audiences.Rigorous attention to details and deadlines.Experience successfully working in high pressure, deadline-driven environments.Experience in a start-up environment would be an asset.Knowledge of quantum computing would be an asset.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantageEligibility criteria:
You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Scientific/IT or Management/Innovation (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Job closing date: 19 May at 23:59 PM CEST.
