The Office of the Executive Director (OED) is seeking a talented and motivated Intern to support the full range of activities led by the Executive Director (ED) and the executive office. This includes the ED’s multi-channel communications and messaging, correspondence, official engagements, and special projects as assigned.

The ideal candidate is an exceptional writer with strong communications instincts and project management skills.

Internship Assignment
This internship offers an opportunity for post-graduate students or recent graduates to gain hands-on experience at the highest levels of global climate finance. Under the supervision and mentorship of the Senior Communications Advisor to the Executive Director, the Intern will perform the following tasks:

Responsibilities:

Executive Communications and Thought Leadership:

  • Draft and edit speeches, talking points, social media posts, op-eds, forewords, presentations, correspondence, and internal communications for the Executive Director.
  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging trends in climate finance to inform and enhance strategic messaging and positioning.
  • Assist in identifying and executing on ideas to position the GCF as a global thought leader in climate finance.
  • Assist in the preparation of high-quality communications materials that amplify the Executive Director’s priorities and vision.

    Project Management:

    • Plan, track, and support the delivery of cross-divisional projects and initiatives, often led by OED
    • Provide logistical and administrative support for the Executive Director’s formal engagements, including official visits and travel
    • Support the preparation of briefing packages and ensure alignment with mission objectives.

      Other Duties:

      • Contribute to ad hoc projects and assignments as needed to support OED priorities.

        Requirements and Qualifications
        Education:

        • Enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master’s or PhD program in International Relations, Communications, Climate Policy, Business Administration, or a related field.
        • Skills & Competencies:
        • Strong writing and editing skills with experience in professional or academic communications.
        • Familiarity with climate change, sustainable development, or multilateral organizations is a strong asset.
        • Exceptional organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail.
        • Proficiency in standard software applications: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
        • Experience with social media and digital communication platforms is an advantage.

          Languages:

          • Native or nearly native-level English language skills are essential.
          • Knowledge of another United Nations language, particularly French, Spanish, or Portuguese, is an advantage.
