Welthungerhilfe's Head Office is in Bonn, Germany whilst the Syria Response is managed from our Country Office in Gaziantep. Welthungerhilfe was established in Turkey in 2013 specifically to help people who are affected by the Syria Crisis. Since then, the organisation has expanded its program scope and scale to make the greatest possible contribution to meeting humanitarian needs in Turkey and North West Syria. Welthungerhilfe has field offices in Azaz, Afrin Idleb, as well as Ankara, Istanbul, Hatay and Mardin. The Syria Response program includes food security, WASH services, Shelter and NFI services, protection, early recovery and livelihood.

Nutritionist - Aleppo*

The position is to be filled by September, 2025, with a contract duration of 6 months. There are good prospects for an extension. The position can also be filled with an unlimited contract duration if the employee shows an appropriate period of employment. Employment/Service location will be Aleppo, Syria. The position is paid according to SG5.

Your responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Head of Project in Turkiye, Deputy Head of Project in Aleppo office, and the Field Coordinator, the Nutritionist works closely with the IDP and host communitiesin the targeted locations. The Nutritionist ensures accountability by functional and effective feedback mechanisms. The tasks of the nutritionist shall be:

  • Empower community members with knowledge on balanced diets and proper nutrition through the awarness sessions in the targeted area
  • Create and implement social and Behavior Change (SBC) strategies aimed at promoting healthy nutrition behaviors and practices within communities.
  • Provide clinical nutrition support and counseling to individuals, especially vulnerable groups like pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children under five,
  • Participate in nutrition cluster meetings and coordination forums to align strategies and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Prepare comprehensive and timely reports
  • Ensures that assigned activity is implemented successfully and in a timely manner.
  • Provides regular and accurate reporting on nutrition activities as required and requested by supervisors.
  • Support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to the participents and to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Code of Conduct, Conflict of Interest, and Provision of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse.
  • Ensure all interventions adhere to Welthungerhilfe’s’ Gender Policy, Do No Harm principles, and beneficiary accountability standards.
  • Provide training on the nutrition-related topics to the BNFs.
  • Undertaking other project tasks as required.

    Your profile

    • Position open to Syrian nationals only
    • Education: A university degree in health, Nutrition, Public Health, or a related field.
    • Work Experience: Minimum three years of experience working in nutrition and health sector and three or more experience working in NGOs (preferably INGOs) in nutrition sectors.
    • Skills/knowledge:
    • Experience in conducting nutrition awareness sessions.
    • Experience in managing nutrition-sensitive training.
    • Experience in CMAM programs
    • Experience in conducting needs assessments and technical KIIs
    • Experience working in insecure and remote locations and reporting to remotely located management
    • Ability to summarize disparate information in a clear and concise manner.
    • Prior work experience with international humanitarian organizations, non-government or government institutions/organization in a multi-cultural setting is an advantage.
    • Being able to travel.
    • Proven analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
    • Good level of computer literacy.
    • Knowledge of nutrition standards and guidelines.
    • Strong communication, and coordination skills.
    • Fluency in Arabic is required.
    • Working knowledge of English is advantageous.
    • Familiarity with Local Context: Candidates who have work experience and knowledge of the Aleppo context is preferred.
