It is fully dedicated to the success of small and medium-sized enterprises, connecting markets, improving lives. In Iraq. we build trade-led growth for inclusive prosperity. ITC is a member of the UNCT with offices in Baghdad (UN compound), Erbil and Mosul. ITC is implementing the “Strengthening the Agriculture and Agri-food Value Chain and Improving trade policy in Iraq” (SAAVI) project funded by the European Union (EU). SAAVI contributes to inclusive economic growth and job creation by improving Iraq’s agriculture competitiveness and supporting trade development. The project forms part of the overall EU special measures for supporting employment creation and improving economic governance in Iraq. ITC is jointly implementing the European Union funded, \"Building Equitable and Inclusive Transformation (BEIT): Towards Decent Work and Affordable Housing in Iraq\" project, with UN-Habitat, and ILO aims to generate quality jobs by enhancing the housing and construction sector. Specifically, this EU-funded initiative targets economic growth through job creation and the development of affordable, sustainable housing in Iraq. The ITC is looking for a national communications consultant to develop and implement a comprehensive communications and visibility plan for ITC’s SAAVI and BEIT projects. The plan will aim to increase media reach and connection, as well as develop content that accurately reflects the project's goals and achievements in the local languages that would appeal to the local and national media as well as to the Iraqi audience. DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Under the overall guidance of ITC’s Operations Manager in Baghdad and the direct supervision of the Trade Strategy Programme Officer and in close coordination with ITC team in Geneva, the national consultant will undertake the following tasks: • Develop and implement a quarterly communication plan aligned with ITC communication objectives in the country to reach relevant audience groups. • Establish and maintain relationships with local and national media outlets to increase media reach and connection. • Prepare high-quality communication materials such as press releases, newsletters, social media content, and reports. • Support the organization of Iraq's National Trade Forum (2025) • Develop compelling success stories and content that showcase the project's achievements and impact with a human angle. • Support administration of ITC Iraq social media platforms through developing and uploading content in Arabic and English. • Produce high-quality photos and videos to support effective communication about the project's activities and impact. • Provide guidance and support to project staff and partners on communication-related matters. • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the communication plan and adjust it as necessary to ensure maximum impact. • Support the preparation of joint communication products with project partners aligned with the overall strategy, where necessary. Collaborate with project stakeholders to ensure consistency of messaging across all communication channels. • Participate in the communications meetings with partners and service providers to maintain regular communications to build and maintain a collaborative relationship. • Maintain information and media database and multi-media library. Should any license fee be due for the use of copyrighted materials of third parties, the Consultant shall request the prior written permission from ITC. to the consultant will also ensure to obtain accreditation to event(s), if required. Qualifications/special skills• Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations or related field. • Extensive relevant experience may be accepted in lieu of the university degree. • At least 5 years of experience in communication, media relations, or public affairs • Strong writing, editing, and content development skills in English and Arabic. • Experience in developing and implementing communication plans for complex projects. • Ability to develop visual content that effectively communicates the project's activities and impact. • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and teams. • Familiarity with the political, social, and cultural context in Iraq. • Understanding the operating context of the UN in Iraq • Experience in using professional photo and video cameras. • Knowledge of tools such as Canva, Adobe Pro among others.
