- Role and responsibilities
The following is a brief description of the role.
Generic responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work- and Professional Development Plan.
- Ensure adherence to NRC policies, guidance and procedures
- Provide regular progress reports to M&E Team Leader
- Contribute and support the development of a data management system through documentation, implementation and coordination of standardized information flow of M&E activities and reporting
- Support in developing data collection methodology and tools, and in actual data collection, as needed
- Assist in standardizing M&E process across projects
- Investigate and facilitate the introduction of new technology, methods and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities
- Coordinate with relevant partners
Specific responsibilities
These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programmed intervention. This section should be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly.
- Develop tools for data collection on output and outcome indicators, including baseline surveys, participatory assessments, KAP surveys, interview guides, focus group discussions, and other assessments as needed.
- Define appropriate samples for each MEL activity and document the sampling methodology.
- Create and maintain databases to track and compare data and indicators throughout the project, ensuring accuracy, proper data cleaning, and correct for reporting.
- Collect output data and calculate unique beneficiaries for reporting.
- Provide feedback to technical staff and partners on methodologies and assessment results to ensure monitoring and evaluation results lead to programmatic changes.
- Develop and implement strategies for verifying indicators, ensuring all departments submit source verification data on time, and compare them for accuracy.
- Prepare weekly and monthly work plans for field visits.
- Train and build the capacity of program staff on MEL technical and conceptual areas as needed.
- Support program staff to implement quality and timely programs, ensuring MEL activities are completed during project implementation.
- Perform other tasks relevant to the position as assigned by the line or technical manager.
- Analyze assessment data for reporting using Power BI.

- Experience of at least 3 years’ experiences from working in M&E in a humanitarian/recovery context
- Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
- Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
- Good understanding of data and information needs for programmed management and decision making
- Strong data interpretation skills and data presentation
- Proficient in MS Office packages (Excel, Power-Bi and etc…)
- Good level of English, both written and verbal
Context related skills, knowledge and experience (shall be adapted to the specific position):
- Knowledge of local languages used in Rakhine State of Myanmar
- Ability of initiation and innovation skills
- Contextual knowledge (local contexts)
- Organizational knowledge and HR development skills
