The Media and Communications Adviser is a crucial role to help NRC in Sudan show the extent of the unfolding humanitarian crisis to the outside world, make an impact on the media, get and retain the attention of donors and help deliver NRC's advocacy objectives.

- Role and responsibilities:
The purpose of the Country Director position is the overall responsibility for the country operation.
Key objectives for this role include:
Generic responsibilities:
- Ensure the delivery of quality and compelling communication products including social media posts, feature stories, press releases, video and photos, B-roll, as well as institutional communication products, including sitreps, donor case studies and factsheets.
- Support the advocacy objectives and advocacy products through strategic public communications and media products, developing dissemination strategy of key reports and external products.
Specific responsibilities:
Priority 1
- Working with Regional, Head office, and Secretary General teams, plan, collect and co-produce regular quality content on Sudan, for NRC Website, NRC fundraising initiatives and NRC social media platforms that shows the human stories and humanitarian conditions of the people affected by the crisis in a dignified manner, raise awareness and advocate on complex humanitarian issues, and show the work of NRC and partners.
Priority 2
- Represent NRC in communications coordination groups.
Ensure the highest quality and respect of NRC's brand identity, image and reputation in Sudan.

Generic professional competencies:
- Applicants should include links to their three most compelling communications production in their cover letter, ideally one text, one video, one TV/radio interview. Degree in journalism, social sciences, or related studies.
- At least 5 years of experience working as a journalist and/or with humanitarian organisations in a media or communications role.
- Exceptional critical thinking, attention to detail, thrives on creative advocacy and finding solutions in the face of complex challenges and obstacles.
- In-depth and nuanced knowledge of the context in Sudan, including serious violations of international law that drive humanitarian needs.
- Experience developing compelling, outstanding and accurate stories for a wide public audience.
- Demonstrated ability to conceptualise and produce visual content such as infographics, photo essays, and videos.
- Experience converting raw, primary, technical documents into compelling public or donor communications products.
- Exceptional English writing, editing and proofreading skills. Arabic is a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively, multi-task, set priorities and meet required deadlines.
- Willingness to travel and work in hard to reach and complex context.
