Your responsibilities
Are you a Mechanical Engineer looking to enhance experience in a multicultural environment? This position could be your opportunity to join CERN's ATLAS Detector Operation Group and its dynamic Project Office section. Under the guidance of the EP-ADO-PO project engineer, you will:
Analyse the needs and constraints related to Muon detector installation, check if the configuration of ATLAS detector is suitable and, if required, propose relevant alternatives.Prepare detailed installation procedures for each type of Muon detector chambers, including information for the risk assessments.Design or supervise designers in the definition of installation tools and accessories, prepare technical drawings, and follow up their production.During the Long Shut down 3, organize the logistics, supervise and coordinate on-site teams, ensure that projects are completed according to schedule and procedures, document non-conformities and report to your hierarchy.Maintain and update the CAD directories and documentations of the Muon detectors.

Skills
Expertise in installation and on-site operation follow-up.Ability to lead teams and collaborate with stakeholders.Knowledge of safety standards and quality assurance.Competency in technical documentation and project reporting.Proficiency in CAD, and project management tools.Being able to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team.Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.You have a professional background in Mechanical engineering (or a related field) and have either: a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience;or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.
Working hours: 40 hours per week

This position involves:
Work in Radiation Areas.Interventions in underground installations.Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.Exposure to ionizing radiation and classified as category A.Exposure to electromagnetic fields under certain exposure conditions.
Given the occupational health risks associated with this position, the selected candidate must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
