Position:                                   Logistics Technical Assistant (Fleet)

Reports to:                               Logistics Team Leader 

Supervision of:                         Drivers, including NRC drivers and daily hires

Duty station:                             Sittwe, Rakhine            

Travel:                                      25%

Duration and type of contract:  one year, fixed term

  1. Role and responsibilities

    The Logistics Technical Assistant(fleet) position is intended to manage NRC’s vehicle & Generator and supervising the drivers. 

    Generic responsibilities 

    These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be hort and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.

  2. Adhere to NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  3. Ensure that vehicles are used and maintained according to Logistics Handbook, other NRC policies and donor requirements
  4. Plan, schedule and monitor transport of staff and material/equipment according to demands and procedures
  5. Ensure that all NRC and hired vehicles are in proper operating condition, coordinate vehicle maintenance
  6. Manage drivers accordance to NRC logistics guidelines
  7. Ensure all NRC drivers adhere to NRC logistics driving procedure
  8. Distribute/organize transport of material and equipment according to procedures, including for trucks.
  9. Ensure that all NRC vehicles are in proper operating condition and coordinate vehicle maintenance 
  10. Perform other duties assigned by line manager.

    Specific responsibilities

    These responsibilities shall be adapted to the particularities of the job location and context, phase of operation, strategic focus and type of programme intervention. This section shall be revised whenever a new employee is hired or the context changes significantly. 

  11. Prepare requisitions for spare parts and documents for vehicles and generator
  12. Compile and submit monthly vehicle utilization and carpool reports and engine report.
  13. Monitor fuel usage for office generator and vehicle, prepare tracking sheet and generator maintenance.
  14. Coordinate with program team for their weekly movement to ensure vehicle movement is cost effective and comply with NRC safety rules.
  15. Daily and weekly vehicle movement control during and after working hours and Train & develop drivers.
  16. Ensure asset inventories are up to date and oversee the vehicle log book, asset maintenance and report to line manager regularly.
  17. Coordinate and facilitate timely reporting of eventualities like accidents and breakdowns.
  18. Secure that NRC vehicles are equipped with necessary legal documents and equipment (HF radio, GPS system, vehicle tool kits, first aid kit, etc.).

  22. Competencies

  23. Experience working with fleet management 
  24. Diploma in related field and/ or related practical experience, including any training courses relevant to the post 
  25. A degree or a diploma and Minimum 2 years’ experience as a Logistician with a local NGO, international NGO or the private sector.
  26. Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts desirable but not essential 
  27. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  28. Working knowledge of English both written and spoken 

    Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:

  29. Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure/ respond to urgent requests
  30. Ability of planning, timing, organizing, as well as problem solving
  31. Honesty and transparency in dealing with suppliers
  32. Computer literate with MS Office skills
  33. An ability to work discretely and professionally with sensitive and confidential information, and sometimes under pressure
  34. Good communication in languages spoken in Rakhine and some Burmese
