    COUNTRY CONTEXT


    The World Food Programme (WFP) in Chad is currently providing lifesaving and life changing assistances to vulnerable populations affected by food and nutrition security. These include in-kind or cash-based transfers for food assistance for those affected by droughts and floods, support for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and refugees, as well as school feeding programs and treatment for malnourished children and women.

    Abeche is a hub for logistics operations in eastern Chad and also serves as a base for cross-border convoys to Sudan via Adre and Tine. This position is based in Abeche, Chad, and reports to the Head of Logistics in Abeche.

    JOB PURPOSE


    To collect, analyze and report on information to maximize efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

    • Maintain an organizational capability for administering the provision of an efficient and effective logistics operation
    • Coordinates with required government authorities at filed level, ensuring good partnership exists
    • Ensures that adequate administrative and logistics support arrangements are made for the execution of logistics operations;
    • Plans, arranges and coordinates the provision of operational support for all contracted service provisions and ensure that all contractual provisions and obligations are satisfied;
    • Contribute to budget management processes;
    • Coordinate and provide timely update reports to CO
    • Contribution to the preparation of accurate and timely reports on Abeche Logistics Hub activities that enable informed decision making and consistency of information presented to stakeholders.
    • Establish and manage important stakeholder relationships with service providers where appropriate.
    • Identify and build productive relationships and partnerships with counterparts in UN agencies, NGOs, governments and the private sector to share knowledge and resources to ensure a coordinated logistics response.
    • Strengthen capacity within the WFP Abeche Sub Office to learn, retain and sustain knowledge of WFP logistics operations.
    • Adequate supervision of staff as required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor


      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

      Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

      Experience: at least one or more years of postgraduate professional experience in logistics, supply chain, remittance, warehousing, and contract management or relevant field.
