    This position is based in N'djamena, Chad and reports to Head of Supply Chain or the designate.

    THE ROLE

    To collect, analyse and report on information to maximise efficiency of the logistics operations and activities.

    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (not all-inclusive, within delegated authority):

    Under the direct supervision of the Head of Supply Chain, the Logistics Officer will undertake the following tasks, covering all aspects of corridor and upstream operations:

    • Establish reports for all expected NFIs and food commodities overland, reflecting location and status of cargo, that is, ETD, ATD, ETA at destination
    • Define logistics strategy within the WFP policies and procedures and ensure effective integration of logistics operations
    • Analyse upstream corridor data for the country and share information with other functional units and management for decision making
    • Maximise usage of WFP corporate systems LESS/ DOTS/PRISMA/ WINGS, etc for better analysis and reporting
    • Ensure all WFP NFI and food commodities are custom cleared on time and are well tracked whilst still in the upstream
    • Build good partnership with relevant internal and external stakeholders
    • Develop tools to monitor the upstream corridor activities and maintain such tools
    • Ensure that accurate and complete accounting, reporting and internal control systems are functioning and that all relevant records are maintained
    • Assess offers for clearing agents and prepare submission to the local contracting committee
    • Develop the best mechanism for cargo allocation to clearing agents
    • Ensure accurate reporting and reinforce internal control systems to achieve operational flexibility optimization.
    • Supervise staff as required
    • Perform other related duties as assigned.


      QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

      Education: Advanced University degree in Transport Economics, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Business Management or other related field, or First University degree with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

      Experience: Typically one or more years of postgraduate professional experience in Logistics (Corridor)
