Work LocationHome-based, with travel Expected duration02.2026 - 06.2026 Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of the Representative of UNODC in Brazil. The consultant will assist the project’s contribution to the development of evidence-based public policies aimed at the protection and prevention of intentional lethal violence against children and adolescents, acting at the national level, by performing the tasks referred below. Qualifications/special skillsAn advanced university degree (PhD degree or equivalent) in Psychology, Public Health, Sociology, Public Policy, International Relations, Anthropology, Social Work, or another field relevant to the position. A Master´s degree in similar fields in combination with two (2) additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the PhD degree. • A minimum of two (2) proven professional and/or academic experience in the areas of childhood, adolescence and youth, social protection, public and social policies, implementation of qualitative research, or other fields related to the project is required; • Previous experience in the implementation of actions or programmes related to the project’s thematic areas, within the UN system, government entities, or civil society organizations is required; • Experience in teaching (as a professor, lecturer, trainer, or similar) in areas and topics relevant to the scope of the consultancy is required. • Experience in the prevention and response to violence against children and adolescents is desirable; • Experience in publishing reports, articles, and/or book chapters (among other technical and/or academic publications) on topics relevant to the consultancy is desirable; • Proficiency in tools, instruments, and methods for qualitative data collection and analysis is desirable. LanguagesEnglish and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For this post, fluency in Portuguese, including strong oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of English is required. Knowledge of another United Nations Language is an advantage.
