Your responsibilities

The Measurements, Test & Analysis (MTA) section within the Controls Electronics and Mechatronics (CEM) group of the Beams (BE) department provides turnkey solutions for measurement and test systems at CERN.

A crucial part of this service is the ability to seamlessly integrate in to the CERN accelerator infrastructure. This integration is realized using the LabVIEW based RADE framework, which features database integration, middleware communication, device and fieldbus driver and more.

In this position, you will:
- Help ensure that the infrastructure is both maintained with minimum interruption to our clients and application dependencies, and at the same time leverages the latest improvements in both hardware and software;
- Support the transition from Apache tomcat web technology to container based satellite services to leverage the compartmentalized nature of microservices.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Knowledge of software engineering practices (source code management and bug tracking);Knowledge of Java and C++;Basic knowledge in Linux and Windows; Basic knowledge of LabVIEW and Python would be an advantage;Knowledge of CI would be an advantage; Ability to work in a team;Good communication skills;Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in software engineer (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree.You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before.Applicants without University degree are not eligible.Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.
